As part of the Paris Climate Agreement, almost 200 countries committed themselves to limiting global warming to below 2°C. These commitments require a transition to a climate-neutral energy supply. This affects DNB in its mission and core tasks. For example, if the energy transition is accompanied by abrupt shocks, this may affect financial stability.

DNB sees climate change and the energy transition as two of the biggest challenges for the economy. But what are the effects of a disruptive energy transition on the economy, on the Dutch financial sector and on DNB's balance sheet? Should action be taken? You are going to explore this!

During the in-house day of the Financial Stability and Financial Markets divisions, you are in control. You design your own energy transition stress test, execute it and decide whether or not to take further steps. It is your job to expose climate risks and ensure that financial stability is not compromised.

What can you expect?

We would like to welcome you at friday 29th of November 2019, from 12.30 to 18.00 at DNB. Westeinde 1, Amsterdam.

  • 13:00 - 13:15: Opening by Aerdt Houben, Head of Division FM
  • 13:15 - 13:45: Presentation about working at DNB, by Campus recruitment
  • 14:00 - 16:15: An interactive case about Sustainable Central Banking
  • 16:15 - 18:00: Drinks with FM/FS colleagues

Before you will conduct your own energy transition stress test, you will gain a better understanding as to how two important divisions within DNB conduct their activities. FS safeguards the stability of the Dutch financial system through analysis and implementation of macroprudential instruments. FM conducts ECB’s monetary policy operations and manages almost EUR 50 billion in investments. The division is also responsible for the risk management of DNB's balance sheet and analyses of financial markets. Sustainability plays a large role in the work of both divisions.

You will also learn more about DNB as an employer, and employment possibilities as an intern, starter or trainee. We will end the day with a drink, where you can meet colleagues from the Financial Markets and Financial Stability divisions.

Who is the day meant for?

You are a 3th year bachelor or master's student or have recently obtained your master's degree in economics, econometrics, finance, or another relevant area, and you are interested in the financial sector.

To register, please send your CV to us by Sunday 17 November. We will let you know if you have been selected no later than Wednesday 20 November. Participation is limited to 25 students.
