Driving the future of software delivery at Rabobank

The new Agentic SDLC Hub is being built to accelerate how Rabobank designs, builds, tests and operates software with AI. This is a cross-bank transformation engine with the mandate to shape how software is built across 1000+ squads. We’re looking for engineers who combine technical excellence with adaptability, collaboration and a strong sense of ownership. These qualities are key to turning a bold vision into real change at scale.

Who we’re looking for

Tenacious engineers - passionate about software engineering, craftsmanship and relentless in their pursuit of impact. You are a polyglot by mindset: you care most about solving the problem and you move comfortably across tools, stacks and paradigms when the mission asks for it. You finish what you start, thrive in ambiguity, adapt when priorities shift and persist through technical complexity. Your work will influence how software gets built across Rabobank.

Your mindset matters

Are you an entrepreneurial builder whose ideas deserve to be heard? In the Hub, leadership actively backs fast innovation, removes roadblocks and creates room to experiment, learn and ship. This is a place for people who want to help define a new engineering model…not just participate in one.

What makes this role special
  • Work in a hub designed for builders who want to shape the next era of software engineering.
  • Freedom to experiment, learn and move fast—with visible leadership sponsorship.
  • A chance to build reusable capabilities that can scale across 1000+ squads.
  • We value curiosity, resilience, sharp engineering judgment and the courage to try new things.
A word of caution

We’re not just looking for GenAI enthusiasts—we’re looking for exceptional Engineers & Data Scientists. People who aim for excellence, thrive on solving tough challenges and know how to build from first principles. You should be excited by coding agents, but grounded in the engineering fundamentals needed to turn promise into production.

If your coding journey started before the rise of GenAI, you’ll feel right at home. We value engineers who understand the fundamentals, build across languages and frameworks, and bring side projects, prototypes or hobby builds that show real maker energy.

You and your job

We’re building AI-powered agents and reusable capabilities that will shape how Rabobank squads design, build, test and operate software. As an Agentic SDLC Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the new Agentic SDLC Hub, helping define what modern software delivery looks like at enterprise scale.

You’ll take ownership of complex GenAI and agent architectures, guide technical decisions, and help turn promising experiments into scalable building blocks that can be adopted far beyond a single team or use case.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who combines strong software fundamentals with deep interest in GenAI, coding agents and rapid experimentation — and who thrives in ambiguity, fast feedback loops and high-leverage delivery.

You’ll help set standards for agent design, system integration and developer experience, while continuously pushing for simplicity, speed and impact in a transformation that reaches the whole engineering organisation.

Practical examples
  • Designing and building AI assistants and agents that improve backlog refinement, code generation, code review, testing and broader software delivery workflows
  • Turning exploratory GenAI prototypes into robust, reusable building blocks that can scale across hundreds of teams
  • Define and implement ways to track the value delivered across the SDLC by these agents.
  • Coaching engineers on effective use of GenAI and coding agents in day-to-day software development
  • Making architectural trade-offs between speed, cost, reliability, governance and scalability
  • Improving developer experience by embedding agentic capabilities directly into existing tools, platforms and engineering workflows

Facts & figures
  • 36 or 40 hours a week.
  • Mostly greenfield, with the opportunity to influence engineering standards from the ground up.
  • Approx. 43,822 Rabobank colleagues around the world.

You and your talent

Technical Leadership:

  • Design and implement scalable GenAI systems and agent architectures
  • Build production‑ready GenAI services platforms, with an eye towards portability
  • Lead solution design across APIs, event‑driven systems and AI workflows
  • Evaluate and select appropriate frameworks without over‑reliance on abstractions
  • Ensure performance, security and cost‑effectiveness of GenAI workloads

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with engineering, platform, product and business teams to translate opportunities into scalable technical capabilities.
  • Collaborate on the design and rollout of AI workflows, including prompt engineering, orchestration, tooling and reusable context.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on agentic engineering strategy, platform scalability and operational excellence.

Soft Skills & Leadership Qualities:

  • You are relentless in getting things done, you don’t give up, you adapt & find another way to complete your assignment. Lead by example in problem-solving, adaptability & continuous improvement.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – you spot valuable opportunities, prototype fast and know how to build momentum around ideas that can change how teams work.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to simplify complex ideas and build trust across teams. Foster collaboration and alignment across engineering and business teams.
  • You combine technical depth with strong product intuition. You challenge solutions that are complex but low-impact, switch comfortably between languages and tools, and are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information — learning quickly through experimentation.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in technical roles (DevOps, Software Engineering, ML Engineering, or Data Science).
  • Proven end-to-end software engineering experience across the full lifecycle: from discovery and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment and production operations.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with cloud platforms combined with DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), and an eye for portability across environments.
  • Strong coding ability and the mindset of a polyglot engineer: you can solve problems across the full stack, move comfortably between languages, tools and system boundaries, and choose the right technology for the job.
  • Proven experience with coding agents and agentic development tools in practice—whether in production, serious side projects or hobby builds—and a strong affinity for how they can transform software engineering.
  • Ability to design and build products from scratch, turning ambiguous problems into working software that delivers value end to end.
  • Experience bringing software into production in a secure, reliable and responsible way, with solid understanding of testing, deployment, runtime operations and production readiness.
  • Security and observability awareness: best practices for monitoring, compliance, and reliability in AI systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor and lead technical teams, and to showcase your maker mindset through a hobby project, side build or prototype.
  • Agile experience (SCRUM or Kanban) and strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.
