We are the Global Network Coverage, Dutch State and Public sector and Trust client coverage team within Wholesale NL. We service clients like Mars, Lidl, McCain, Ministry of Finance and Dutch Tax Authorities (Belastingdienst) as first point of contact. Our team consists of 3 coverage bankers, an associate and a team head. We are responsible for the relationship and the income on clients and prospects in The Netherlands and support Wholesale Clients in Rabobank Global Network and Dutch State and Public Sector Clients. This is a department where entrepreneurial people thrive.

Where will you work?

The team is part of the Senior Relationship Banking department (approx. 80 colleagues). This department is centrally located within the organization and consists of senior bankers that manage client/prospect relationships with large corporates. They are supported by business developers and associates.

The department is located in Rabobank’s head office in Utrecht and split into different sector teams: Food & Agri, Energy Transition, Transport & Mobility, Construction & Real Estate, High Tech & Digital, Global Network Coverage, Sustainable Business Development.

The job is a kick-start to become a commercial banking professional that maximizes relationships with clients, prospects and colleagues. You will be immersed in the wholesale banking environment, characterized by its dynamic and global environment. This will allow you to understand how a bank works and how income is generated. During your work, you will gain a vast and valuable network within the bank, as well as learn all necessary skills to develop into a commercial role. Depending on your preferences and skills, you further develop yourself in your team as a (junior) Business Developer or transfer to one of the product groups to further specialize.

What will you do?

You will participate in a developmental path that will train you to become a commercial professional in Wholesale banking. The role is designed to be a kickstart for a client facing commercial role. First it is key to understand how Rabobank wholesale operates, what our product offering is, who the stakeholders (both internally and externally) are and who our clients and prospects are. To establish this, you will work closely with your team and prepare commercial pitches, do sector deep dives, create marketing content and work on the strategy of your team.

Your team is expanding its business in all Rabobank global regions, and you have a prospect list with potential clients. You support a team that is responsible to participate in a European Tender process for Dutch State and Public Sector Banking mandates.

You decide to delve deeper into the company's profile and identify numerous opportunities to establish a profitable client relationship. You share your findings with the team and propose reaching out to the local CFO and Treasurer in coordination with the Global Relationship Manager. You collaborate with various regions and product groups to gather insights on the company and assess the potential opportunities.

You take charge of all preparations and incorporate feedback from senior colleagues. After the meeting, you document the discussion and coordinate follow-up actions with the team.

You understand that network, teamwork and cooperation are key to commercial success. Every day will be different, but your success is completely dependent on your own proactiveness to spot opportunities and take the lead on them.

Next to that, you bring the following to the job:

  • A relevant MSc degree in business / finance / economics
  • 0-2 years relevant (sales/entrepreneurial) experience
  • First year 4 days in the office is expected
