Build and scale enterprise-wide data lineage capabilities that support automated metadata capture for dozens of DevOps teams, strengthening data transparency across platforms used by over 49,000 colleagues worldwide.

You & your role

Build and scale Rabobank’s enterprise data lineage platform as Senior Data Lineage Engineer by designing automated metadata ingestion, lineage APIs and reusable connectors. You work in an international environment and contribute directly to Rabobank becoming a more data-driven digital bank by improving trust, transparency and control of data flows.

You collaborate with platform and application teams and apply open standards to enable consistent, reliable and automated lineage across cloud platforms and data services.

Examples from practice
  • Scale OpenLineage by integrating metadata from data platforms and applications such as orchestration tools, streaming services and analytical environments in public cloud.
  • Build and evolve a centralized lineage repository using open metadata formats and expose lineage via versioned application programming interfaces and software development kits.
  • Develop automated ingestion and validation pipelines that reduce manual onboarding and improve metadata reliability for multiple DevOps teams.

  • Design and operate scalable, event-driven metadata ingestion pipelines and application programming interfaces that support enterprise-wide data lineage in cloud environments.
  • Enable engineering teams by providing reusable tooling, templates and guidance that accelerate metadata onboarding and improve lineage adoption.
  • Improve reliability, observability and performance of lineage services through monitoring, automation and resilient deployment patterns.

You & your talent
  • Experience in data engineering, platform engineering or metadata/lineage engineering within complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of OpenLineage standards, event models and technical metadata capture patterns.
  • Familiarity with open‑source metadata technologies, schemas and interoperable metadata formats; experience contributing to or building open‑source tools is a strong plus.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern data services and orchestrators (e.g., Spark, Airflow, Databricks).
  • Experience with event streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka.
  • Ability to design, build and optimize automated ingestion pipelines and reusable metadata connectors.
  • Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and Python, including building REST APIs with Spring, FastAPI or Flask; front‑end experience with React to build simple self‑service tools is a plus.
  • Cloud experience with AWS and/or Azure, and operating services with Docker and Kubernetes; familiarity with CI/CD and cloud‑native architectures.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to collaborate across squads and platform teams.
  • A mindset focused on automation, simplification and building scalable, reliable engineering solutions.
  • Fluent in English.
