Are you ready to strengthen our FinOps practice within a complex, high‑impact IT environment? Do you naturally take the lead, bring structure, and energize teams to turn cost‑ and efficiency opportunities into measurable outcomes? Can you combine deep technical expertise (cloud and on‑premises) with strong stakeholder management and hands‑on execution? If you’re a true FinOps professional who thrives on collaboration, challenges teams constructively, and gains energy from making visible progress, we would love to hear from you.
We are expanding our FinOps team with a FinOps Practitioner, a visible, proactive professional who blends project management, technical and financial affinity, data engineering, and data‑driven decision‑making. In this role, you will support our major spending domains in identifying and realizing optimization opportunities across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and on‑premises environments (VMware, storage, databases, containers, and more), while also contributing to FinOps data engineering and analytics initiatives.
The FinOps Services capability is delivered by the sub area Consumer Services within the area Engineering Services. Besides FinOps, this sub area also delivers Container Platforms, Databases, Virtual Machines, and various other products across Rabobank’s three landing zones (Azure, AWS and on-premises). Guided by our vision, that all IT consumers in the bank take ownership of their IT usage and spend to unlock maximum business value, the FinOps team empowers the organization to make informed and accountable technology decisions. We enable this vision by providing cost transparency and efficiency by combining technology insight, financial stewardship, and engineering ways of working. We enable product teams, platform teams, and infrastructure domains to:
- Understand where technology spend comes from (cloud and on-premises)
- Translate cost drivers into actionable usage and optimization insights
- Implement governance, guardrails, and standards
- Build a continuous optimization culture (not a one-off savings exercise)
We work closely with engineering, platform owners, procurement, finance, and senior stakeholders to ensure cost optimization is embedded into day-to-day delivery. Also, we work closely with the Tech Support Office within our division, responsible for the functional delivery of the FinOps practice.
As FinOps Practitioner, you are the driver who turns optimization ambitions into execution. You lead cross-domain initiatives, create momentum, and ensure that agreed actions actually happen, in a continuous cycle.
- Lead FinOps engagement with high‑spend consumers, driving cost transparency, accountability, and continuous optimization.
- Analyze cloud and on‑premises cost drivers and translate insights into clear, actionable improvement plans with measurable targets.
- Embed FinOps way of working by establishing governance, standards, guardrails, and a consistent optimization cadence (reviews, steering, reporting).
- Enable teams to act on cost signals by connecting spend to architectural and operational choices, with a shift-left approach, and ensuring insights turn into outcomes.
- Act as a strategic connector between engineering, finance, procurement, and leadership, aligning on forecasting, budgeting, value realization, and communicating clear narratives.
We believe in the power of differences. It is precisely by combining people's differences that we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you add to our team of Engineering Journey.
"You really get the space here to drive product innovation that impacts thousands of engineers daily, and you can feel the transformation you're creating," Product Manager.
For us, your development and that of society go hand in hand. That’s why we want to invest in you and work together for a better world. We summarise this in one sentence: ‘At Rabobank, you work on yourself and the world around you at the same time. You’ll see this reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid working environment, and a healthy balance between work and home. You can work on banking services for our private and business customers, as well as societal issues such as food and energy transitions.
At Rabobank, we believe we become stronger through people who complement each other. By embracing our differences, we bring out the best in one another.
