As part of the Engineering Journey, you’ll help shape how 8,000+ engineers design, build, and collaborate every day. We’re building a scalable, consistent, and developer friendly platform, Nexa, and an ecosystem around it. If you enjoy working in a complex engineering landscape, influencing how thousands of developers work, and owning a product that truly matters, this is a great opportunity to make an impact.

At Rabobank we want to deliver the best possible services for our DevOps engineers, and you as Product Owner (PO) will be playing a central role in providing them! Tech4Engineering's mission is to minimize the cognitive load of our engineers throughout the bank. You contribute to that mission by owning the Managed Standardized Service Virtual Machine (MSS VM).

The MSS Virtual Machine is delivered by the sub area Consumer Services within the Area Engineering Services. Besides VMs, this sub area also delivers Container Platforms, Databases, FinOps Services and various other products across Rabobank’s three landing zones (Azure, AWS and on-premises). Of course, availability and continuity of the VM service are important, but it does not stop there: increased focus on security and compliancy by design, automation and self-service is also critical. Implementing these concepts allows services in our portfolio to be combined into (bigger) MSSs to make the lives of our consumers even easier.

You and your role

As Product Owner for the MSS VM, you define and communicate the product vision, translate customer and business needs into a clear, prioritized Product Backlog, and ensure the team is always working on the most valuable items. You collaborate closely with stakeholders and make informed decisions to maximize product value. You also validate outcomes, gather feedback via reviews/user groups, and continuously refine the backlog to keep the product aligned with strategic goals.

Top responsibilities
  • Enable our consumers to migrate all non-standardized VMs towards the standard. You provide insights and report on the progress.
  • Strengthen and evolve the existing MSS by identifying and proposing improvements that simplify and enhance the engineer experience.
  • Ensure a well‑established provider–consumer model with clear agreements on ownership, responsibilities, and support across areas and tribes.
  • Lead the VM user group with a structured agenda, gather feedback from consumers, and use these insights to continuously inspect, adapt, and improve the MSS.
Together we achieve more

"You really get the space here to drive product innovation that impacts thousands of engineers daily, and you can feel the transformation you're creating," Product Manager.

Work on yourself and the world around you at the same time

For us, your development and that of society go hand in hand. That’s why we want to invest in you and work together for a better world. We summarise this in one sentence: ‘At Rabobank, you work on yourself and the world around you at the same time. You’ll see this reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid working environment, and a healthy balance between work and home. You can work on banking services for our private and business customers, as well as societal issues such as food and energy transitions.
