Join the Kong Platform & Infra team as we transform how 8000+ internal engineers at Rabobank discover, adopt, and integrate with our mission-critical integration platforms (API Gateway/Kong, Event Streaming/Kafka, ,Message Queues, File Transfer). We are seeking a skilled and proactive engineer to manage and enhance our Kong API Gateway platform deployed across hybrid environments—AKS, EKS and on-premises OpenShift clusters. This role involves designing, deploying, maintaining, and optimizing the API gateway infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security of API traffic across the enterprise

Together working towards to “Empowering Rabobank with instant and effortless application data exchanges”. 

• Design and implement Kong API Gateway solutions in AKS, EKS and OpenShift environments. 
• Manage the lifecycle of Kong components including Kong Gateway, Kong Ingress Controller, and plugins. 
• Maintain and develop scripts/pipelines for managing our nfrastructure in both cloud and on-premise, configurations, and gathering metrics 
• Monitor and troubleshoot API traffic, latency, and gateway performance issues. 
• Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to define API standards, policies, and governance. 
• Ensure secure API exposure through authentication, rate limiting, logging, and auditing. 
• Maintain and upgrade Kong Gateway versions and associated infrastructure components. 
• Document architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

• 3+ years of Dev Ops/Platform Engineer Role 
• Good experience with API Gateway preferrably Kong API Gateway.  
• Experience with Kubernetes (AKS/EKS), Azure DevOps Pipelines and Network. 
• Experience with Openshift and container deployments 
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, Terraform and AzureCLI scripts.  
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps.  
• Familiarity with API security best practices (OAuth2, mTLS, JWT).  
• Strong troubleshooting skills in containerized environments.  
• Experience of monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana. 
• Technical Communication: Explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• Outcome-Focused: Balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery of user value 

Nice to Haves: 

• Experience with financial services technology landscapes and regulatory requirements 
• Understanding of enterprise governance, security, and compliance in large organizations 
• Familiarity with legacy system integration and gradual modernization approaches 
• Experience in platform development
