Corporate Sustainability Strategy Leader

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for sustainability, strong consultancy skills, a proven track record in stakeholder management, and a broad understanding of international banking?

We are seeking an experienced professional to take on the role of Corporate Sustainability Strategy Leader within Group Sustainability. In this strategic position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the bank-wide sustainability strategy, working closely with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Most important responsibilities

• Integrate sustainability in the overall Rabobank strategy, including portfolio trade-offs
• Facilitate strategic decision making at Managing Board level
• Give direction / be responsible for strategic choices in the strategic commitment programs
• Coordinate content of transition visions
• Drive ‘Sector x Region’ plans including portfolio metrics, risk appetite and targets
• Prioritize and align development of standards, policies and tooling with stakeholders
• Complex stakeholder management with Retail NL, Wholesale &Rural, DLL, risk management and finance (Managing Board-1)

Group Sustainability acts as a centre of expertise, advising on a variety of sustainability topics and accelerating the implementation of sustainability on an ongoing basis. With you, the department consists of ca. 60 diverse colleagues in a variety of roles.

In addition, it's important that you recognize everything in the checklist below:

• Holds a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience in strategy consultancy, international banking  experience and organisational change management.  
• Demonstrated expertise in sustainability within the banking sector is essential. Candidates must be able to translate complex sustainability challenges into actionable strategies across diverse banking domains.
• Is able to make impact, create a community and lead teams
• Has execution power, being able to perform under high pressure
• Is experienced and has a track record in result-focused strategic and innovative organisational transformations including implementation in a multidisciplinary environment, e.g. Risk, IT, legal, data, reporting, finance, HR, communications and business (with and without the direct mandate with peers)
• Is experienced in translating complex demands towards clear objectives and balancing theoretical knowledge with pragmatic application
• Understands the daily banking practice and dilemmas with regard to sustainability executions

This is a senior leadership position requiring strategic influence at Managing Board level. Applicants must demonstrate prior experience leading cross-functional initiatives with board-level visibility and impact.
