You and your job
The Orphan desk is a desk installed within FIG, and part of the FI Relationship Management Team. The Orphan desk takes over client ownership in the event that no new business is expected, but where transactions are still outstanding (run-off/legacy). The client will be off-boarded once the transactions have run-off, and the Orphan desk manages this process. The Associate Orphan Desk is - as the new client owner- the first point of contact for the FI client and coordinates the CDD process.

You and your team

As an Associate within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), you work with client owners, multiple product groups and internal departments such as legal, risk and compliance, to coordinate the overall relationship with high value or strategically important FI clients of Rabobank. This includes (International) Asset Managers, Development Banks, (International) Banks and Insurance Companies.  You will work closely with the Relationship Management team making sure business lines remain focused on doing business in a prudent manner.

Your Role

  • As an Associate, you are managing an existing FI portfolio and coordinate the offboarding as such. You will work with, and liaise with, your team members and the Relationship Management team. This will enable you to really get to know your clients and counterparties, which will help you to play a relevant role in the team, and to build and maintain a comprehensive network within the FI sector.
  • To manage your portfolio, you need to collaborate with the FI Credit Analysis and the FI lending team within the FIG department, the various product departments, and the risk and legal department. This allows you to build a strong internal network.
  • The product teams are very diverse, and you will get to learn the bank from multiple angles like Markets (DCM, Trading, Sales), Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF), Global Network Management, Transaction Banking, Treasury & Funding, Portfolio Management etc.
  • You will have a shared responsibility for a portfolio of legacy clients originated across Wholesale, which have pending transactions but without regular contact (run-off portfolio). In close consultation with internal and external stakeholders, you will form and monitor the exit strategy within the off-boarding process. And if necessary, you will inform the clients.
  • You will also coordinate the customer due diligence (CDD) process, including event driven reviews. These internal affairs allow you to work on your own projects, which sometimes will have an administrative angle. This way, you will get a deep knowledge of the international finance sector and internal processes.

You and your talent
