Credit & ESG ratings Advisor (Environment, Social & Governance)

As a Credit & ESG ratings advisor within the team Investor Relations & Rating Agencies (IR&RA) you will play an instrumental role in ensuring that Rabobank’s institutional investors and (credit & ESG) rating agencies maintain a high level of confidence in Rabobank’s creditworthiness, business model, its strategy and its ESG profile.
You and your job
As a Credit & ESG ratings advisor you are actively contributing to maintaining the solid reputation of the bank and thus to maximizing the performance of (subordinated) bonds and capital instruments issued by Rabobank by transparently creating and sharing Rabobank’s storyline. By doing so you are ensuring that Rabobank retains its very good access to the money and capital markets. You will also make a difference by ensuring that the vision of the credit and ESG rating agencies, as well as institutional investors is taken into account in Rabobank’s strategic and tactical decisions. Together with the rest of the IR&RA team you are thus playing a pivotal role in maintaining a rock-solid Rabobank!
Practical Examples
- Acting as main contact point for the credit rating agencies (CRAs) and maintain close relationships, thereby continuously updating them on new developments
- Preparing the (annual) visits of the CRAs, whereby you draw up clear and consistent communication materials on the basis of which CRAs assess the creditworthiness of the bank, which is reflected in the credit ratings of Rabobank
- Providing ‘outside in’ views and analyses to senior management, taking into account input from CRAs and ESG rating agencies, to improve our strategy, ambitions, performance and disclosure
- Supporting another team member in maintaining relationships with Rabobank’s ESG rating agencies to ensure that they receive the required information and are proactively informed in order for them to assess Rabobank’s ESG profile
Facts & Figures
- 43,822 Rabobank colleagues around the world
- ~1,100 CFO colleagues globally
- 8 talented and dedicated IR&RA professionals
Top 3 responsibilities
- Analyzing and assessing changes in rating methodologies of CRAs and ESG rating agencies to determine the impact on Rabobank’s credit and ESG ratings
- Managing stakeholders (including credit & ESG rating agencies) and contributing to the rock-solid reputation of Rabobank with such stakeholders
- Analyzing the impact of (intended) strategic decisions, Rabobank’s performance and issuance plans on Rabobank’s credit ratings as well as ESG ratings and contribute to these strategic discussions on the basis of that analysis as well as performing benchmark and peer analyses to determine Rabobank’s relative position from a credit & ESG rating perspective
In this position as a Credit & ESG ratings advisor you have the opportunity to be a true Chief Value Officer (CVO) and bring our CFO (CVO) strategy into action. As Chief Value Officers (CVOs) we team up to add value to the bank. By putting data in perspective and providing guidance on the strategic direction, CVOs ensure that Rabobank remains a rock solid bank. We do this by executing our High Tech - High Touch strategy. We use tech to optimize processes and use data to provide actionable insights. We use our human touch to tell the story behind the numbers. We collaborate to contribute to our mission of “Growing a better world together”.
As a Credit & ESG ratings advisor you will bring our CVO strategy into action by contributing to the (semi) annual Investor Presentation and associated background materials. The Investor Presentation clearly sets out Rabobank’s storyline as part of the release of its annual and interim figures, thereby helping investors to make their investment decision. Together with other team members you will answer questions from (international) investors and credit & ESG rating agencies, using your own knowledge and experience, but also consulting other departments such as Finance & Control, Risk, Treasury, Communication & Corporate Affairs, CITO, Sustainability, Legal and Compliance. Maintaining close relationships with internal stakeholders throughout the bank is key, in order to not only proactively share the “outside” view, but also to ensure that IR&RA is well-connected throughout the organization.
Together we achieve more than alone
We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together people's differences is what makes us an even better bank. So we are very curious about what you can bring to the IR&RA team. Working together is the way we work; as one reliable Rabobank team.
