During the Young Engineering Professional Program (also known as YEPP) at Rabobank you work on your career one day a week by following a technical track, or you work on your personal development. You develop talents you didn’t know you had and you are given the space to discover for yourself what you are good at and what you like. And then? Everything you learn in the training courses can immediately be put into practice, because the other 4 days you work in your starter position as DevOps Engineer.Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you will become a specialist in your field in no time. In addition, in the program you will work together with the team on 2 business challenges on themes such as sustainable agriculture or the cooperative energy transition.
As a DevOps Engineer – Azure Cloud within Customer Engagement you will be working within a squad that is responsible for the (Cloud) infrastructure of our customer communication platform Quadient Cloud and related applications. This platform currently supports the delivery of over 10 million PDFs and 20 million emails to our customers per month, but mostly within Rabobank’s own datacenter. We are currently making the move to the Cloud. Did you ever receive an email or letter from Rabobank? It was generated and sent through this platform.
Some technical details on that: The Quadient Inspire Flex platform is deployed as containers inside a Kubernetes cluster (AKS). CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) are used to automate the application deployment, maintenance and builds. We use Infrastructure as code (Terraform) for managing all the Cloud infrastructure. It’s a complex set-up that needs to be available 24/7, as it has the highest possible availability rating within the bank.
Examples
- Support the design, deployment, and management of Azure Cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Utilize Azure services such virtual machines, databases and Key Vaults to meet application and business requirements.
- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive networking solutions within Azure, including virtual networks, load balancers, and firewalls.
- Utilize Azure Security Centre and other Azure security tools for regular security assessments and audits, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices for data protection and privacy.
- Configure and manage Splunk for comprehensive log aggregation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure, applications, and security events.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps, integrating CI/CD practices to streamline application delivery.

To become the specialist in your professional field, in the Young Engineering Professional Program 1 day a week you mainly attend training courses that that support your talent development. You and your talent
- a relevant bachelor or master degree, or an equivalent working / thinking level
- affinity with cloud development, and already some experience with at least one of Cloud technologies (preferably Azure), Container Orchestration (preferably Kubernetes), Infrastructure as code (preferably Terraform), or CI/CD concepts
- excellent proficiency in English

This is a selection of the terms of employment for a DevOps Engineer based on a 40-hour working week.
