s Data Analyst/Scientist Food & Agribusiness at RaboResearch F&A you, together with more than 70 F&A colleagues globally, generate data-driven insights, (proprietary) data sets, and models, which are used for our research, publication client meetings, and the bank itself.

You and your job
As a Data Analyst/Scientist Food & Agribusiness, you’ll work together with other F&A data analysts/scientists and more than 70 Global F&A Analysts from different regions (e.g. Australia New Zealand, North America, South America, and Asia) and Europe and sectors (e.g. Animal Protein, Dairy, Fresh Produce, Consumer Foods, Grain & Oilseeds) and related themes (e.g. Climate, Nature), the bank’s highly valued F&A knowledge centre. The models/data and insights generated are crucial for the bank and clients to maintain and develop their businesses (strategy).

  • Develop, maintain, and help improve unique data sets, models, and tools to support stakeholders and clients.
  • As a team player you collaborate with F&A experts and stakeholders to turn their knowledge and needs into data models, tools, and insights
  • Proactively participate in modelling and data analytical initiatives
  • Proactively contribute to F&A research projects and publications together with F&A analysts
  • Our insights are presented to our wholesale and rural clients' prospects and press, and most are published via Rabobank Knowledge Hub.

  • Work closely together with F&A analysts and fulfil research needs with efficient or innovative solutions. Think along and challenge domain experts in the creation of unique research using your technical knowledge.
  • Clearly define the objectives and timelines of your projects and the steps to take. Share the progress and project results with your main stakeholders regularly.

Together with the other three F&A data analysts/scientists you are part of the RaboResearch F&A Europe and Africa team (In total 20 FTE) and one of our data analysts is located in our North America team. All 5 Data experts (including you) work closely together with the F&A analysts, providing our clients with the newest sector insights, creating ‘order from chaos’. You will focus on the support of one or more Global F&A sector teams. RaboResearch has a Global Matrix structure in place (regions vs. sectors).

You and your talent

Ideally, we are looking for an Agricultural or Applied Economist with Data skills – in practical terms, you've built maintainable analytical models in Python that have been used to look at topics at any stage along the value chain from production-based ag to the consumer foods sector (farm to fork). Projects will include working on sector based models to cultivating proprietary data and tools (e.g. dashboards).

The team practice is a hybrid between agile and consulting – a person who thrives will take complex problems, break them into parts, and deliver the highest value-added first. Evaluation will be based on an interview, a code sample, and a technical presentation.

  • A solid foundation of statistics, preferably agricultural econometrics, and modelling. (for example MSc in business information management, agricultural or applied economy, econometry)
  • An enthusiastic team player, who is willing to embrace and share knowledge and expertise
  • Initiates improvements and contributes to their realization and can set up data research autonomously following the research question
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships within and outside RaboResearch and to communicate research results effectively to clients and (internal) stakeholders
  • Involved in identifying and advising on complex insights, modelling experience (foundational/intermediate level )in real-life business settings with traditional (structural/econometrics) and algorithmic (statistical/Bayesian) approaches
  • Experience in Azure-based environments, strong hands-on programming skills (Python) and experience in setting up data pipelines
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Dutch is considered an advantage

This is what we offer you

  • Basic salary from € 3,711 up to € 6.168 gross per month (scale 8 or 9, depending on your experience)
  • On top: thirteenth month's salary, 8% holiday allowance and an extra budget of 10% (scale 8) or 11% (scale 9) of your gross salary to be used at your discretion. Buy extra holiday hours, add more to your pension savings or ask for part of the extra budget to be paid out.
  • a combination of working from home (3 days) and at the office (2 days)
