Valuation Controller
Imagine yourself spending your time working with people and markets around the world. As a Valuation Controller you can make a difference by ensuring the correct pricing of a variety of complex financial instruments such as derivatives. In addition, you will calculate and analyse various additional valuation adjustments. You will be involved in the development and implementation of enhanced valuation methodologies to meet regulatory standards in wholesale bank systems of Rabobank.
You and your job
You will be working with other departments in the bank such as Risk, Front Office and Reporting to discuss outcomes of you valuation tests or how to best implement the new regulation stipulations received from the supervisor. You drive change in the team by focusing on implementing new technology that can help make our processes more efficient.
Top responsibilities
- Performing Independent Price Verifications for fair valued instruments under IFRS 13 and calculating a Prudent Valuation as set out by the EBA;
- Examining and analysing the key inputs to a pricing model and how it influences the valuation of a derivative;
- Discussing the valuation of complex instruments with different areas such as Risk Management and Front Office;
- Looking for continuous improvements of processes;
- Implementing changes in regulation and trends in financial markets.

Our department
The Area Valuation & Market Data falls within the Tribe Finance & Product Control, which is part of the CFO domain and responsible for providing reliable financial and management information for global supported businesses to the Wholesale and Rural, Treasury and Local Bank businesses in a timely, efficient and professional manner. Reliable financial information is supported by an independent daily valuation of financial instruments in the bank’s trading and banking portfolios and analysis of evidence of performed controls.

You and your talent
Customer focus, problem solving and analytical skills as well as a result driven and a pro-active attitude are essential for the role of Valuation Controller.
- You hold a master’s degree with a focus on Finance, Economics or Econometrics or a degree in another discipline but with a keen interest in the financial sector;
- You have several years of relevant experience in the pricing of financial instruments such as derivatives;
- You understand the interaction of pricing models and valuations with the financial markets.
- You have a tangible interest in IT related systems and processes;
- You hold the CFA or FRM charter or have the willingness to work towards one;
- You are able to clearly express your ideas in English both orally and in written form.
