You and your job

As a Senior Advisor Sustainability – People & Human Rights, you will use your knowledge and experience of business and human rights to shape and drive change to increase Rabobank’s sustainable impact.

The People Theme is one of the three strategic sustainability themes of the bank, alongside Climate and Nature. The theme focuses on respecting human rights and enhancing people to enable a more inclusive society for customers, communities and workforce.

Practical Examples

You will be a member of the People team within Group Sustainability. In this role you will: 

• Collaborate with team members to refine the People theme strategy and framework and deliver results
• Work alongside colleagues in the Climate and Nature team to ensure a holistic approach to sustainability
• Engage with a diverse group of stakeholders both within Group Sustainability as well as the wider bank (business lines, compliance, risk and human resources) to enhance their knowledge, understanding and drive impact.
• Be a champion of, and actively promote respect for human rights in Rabobank business activities, including in our own operations, with our business partners and our clients.
• Be open, curious, entrepreneurial and take the initiative to identify and implement new ideas and ways of embedding the People theme within Rabobank.

Top 3 responsibilities

• Use your subject matter knowledge to strengthen and drive the People theme within the  bank, including providing thematic expertise on current and upcoming regulations and commitments in the business and human rights area.
• Identify and develop potential solutions to mitigating human rights risks and generating positive impact for People (within our own operations and with our business relationships).
• Embed the people aspirations by translating the regulations and commitments to procedures (implement with diverse group of stakeholders processes and procedures within the bank)

Group Sustainability acts as a center of expertise, advising on a variety of sustainability topics and accelerating the implementation of sustainability on an ongoing basis. With you, the department consists of ca. 60 diverse colleagues in a variety of roles.

You and your talent

You have affinity with sustainability and love working in dynamic work environments, where each day brings something new. You are well-connected, work well with other people, and able to influence people to get on board in reaching our people goals.

In addition, it's important that you recognise everything in the checklist below:

• Ca.10 years of relevant work experience in business and human rights in the corporate/ financial sector – preferably with experience in implementing the United Guiding Principles of Business and Human Rights and OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises.
• Higher education (Masters) in Business and Human Rights or related subjects (international law, international relations, international development etc.)
• Inclusive and growth mindset: respect, open-mindedness, an eagerness to learn and grow as a professional
• Deep knowledge of management frameworks, regulations, networks, and policies on business and human rights, experience in the financial sector is a bonus
• Excellent network and stakeholder management skills
• Pro-active attitude to make things happen; hands-on approach and “in-control” mentality
• Proficiency in English and Dutch
• Please note that you should be currently living in/willing to relocate and be allowed to work in the Netherlands to apply for this role.

This is what we offer

• A job in salary scale 10 or 11 with gross monthly salaries ranging from a minimum of € 5.115,- to a maximum of € 8.793,-
• An extra budget of 11% of your gross salary to be used at your discretion. This could for example be to buy extra holiday hours, add to your pension savings, or to be paid out
• A thirteenth month's salary and 8% holiday allowance
