Energy Transition Analyst at RaboResearch – Power Grids & Markets expert

Are you as keen as we are to support the acceleration of the energy transition, especially by focusing on power grid-related challenges ahead? The energy transition is our most important route to reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and to secure affordable and reliable low-carbon energy for all. Rabobank aspires to be the “Bank of the Energy Transition”. The Energy Transition team of RaboResearch plays an essential role in realizing this ambition. This is why we need you, your creativity, and your expertise to complement our existing team and make it happen.

You and your job
As Energy Transition Analyst at RaboResearch, you are an expert on the regulatory and operational complexities of power grids and markets. You understand how power grids function and on which markets electricity can be traded. You also understand the challenges related to the energy transition, particularly those related to power grid congestion and system balancing. This includes the role of battery storage. You understand how business models are updated as new regulation supporting the energy transition unfolds, and you dare to navigate the uncertainty associated with the new energy system we are working on. You will use this expertise to do impactful research and produce publications. You will help identify key risks and challenges for our clients related to grids, and to spot solutions and opportunities in this field. You will play an active and meaningful role in expanding the knowledge on energy grids across our organization. In your role as Energy Transition Analyst at RaboResearch, you ensure credibility and reliability in discussions with clients and other stakeholders, including the media. If you are a starter, we expect you to be strongly motivated and ambitious in developing your expertise in these areas.

What could your day look like?

  • Conduct thought-leading research on the topic of the regulatory and operational challenges that power grids and markets face today and in the future
  • Develop a deep understanding of the power grid investment needs across Europe to spot opportunities for Rabobank
  • Contribute to a suitable assessment to establish the bankability of a V2G project
  • Organize workshops to educate and inspire stakeholders on your vision of various trends/challenges/solutions
