The Chief Auditor FEC is a senior position within the Audit Rabobank leadership team, with a remit to lead the audit teams for FEC Organisation audits.  The team currently consists of approximately 45 staff which will evolve in step with the assurance needs for Rabobank’s FEC efforts.  Audit Rabobank aims to contribute to the realisation of the Bank’s strategy and enhance and protect the value of the Bank by providing independent assurance, insights and support the organisation in taking corrective action to solve problems. The Audit function is an independent 3rd line function.  The Chief Auditor FEC  reports hierarchically into the Chief Audit Executive and is a key member of the Audit Rabobank Management Team.

You and your job

As Chief Auditor FEC, you will be responsible for managing the relationship and alignment with our Financial Economic Crime Officer (CFECO) who is a member of our Managing Board. In this role you will provide independent assurance over the FEC  domain.  This includes assurance on the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control systems and processes, helping the boards and management protect the organisation and its reputation.

In this role you also will create oversight on all FEC audits and audits with substantial FEC risk/ controls in scope. The audit activities should be performed in line with Rabobank Audit Standards and include objectives including:

  • Established operating goals and objectives will be met.
  • Significant legislative or regulatory issues impacting the organisation are recognised in a timely manner and properly addressed.
  • Risks are properly identified and managed
  • The design and operating effectiveness of the internal control framework is deemed appropriate.

Roles & responsibilities

  • A group-wide responsibility for FEC, which is aligned to our CFECO who is a member of the Managing Board of Rabobank.
  • Responsibility for the quality of the risk assessment, audit plan and the execution of audits (including reports) within the FEC department.
  • Build global oversight on the global FEC risks and control effectiveness as detected by Audit and report on this into the relevant boards and committees
  • Take collective responsibility as a MT member for the overall risk-based audit plan and for the governance of Rabobank Audit to support an effective and efficient audit service that delivers on its commitments.
  • Reporting to the Managing Board, Supervisory Board (incl. Audit Committee) and other senior management of Rabobank Group based on provided assurance regarding the FEC domain.
  • Relationship management of the FEC domain on strategic/tactical level (MB level).
  • Attend meetings with regulators and during inspections covering the responsibility of the Chief Auditor FEC.
  • Report significant issues related to the processes for controlling the activities of Rabobank Group, including potential improvements to those processes.
  • Evaluate and assess significant changes in FEC processes, operations, and control processes.
  • Coordinate with other control and monitoring functions within Rabobank Group (such as risk management, compliance, security, legal, ethics, environmental) and external audit and regulators.

  • Professional qualifications as auditor or equivalent.
  • Fluent in and English, both speaking and excellent writing skills in English.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in auditing, risk management, regulatory compliance, preferably within international banking and financial markets.
  • At least 10 years active leadership experience in inspiring and coaching respectively, leading larger (international) multidisciplinary teams, consisting of high-quality professionals.
