You and your future
During the Young Engineering Professional Program (also known as YEPP) at Rabobank you work on your career one day a week by following a technical track, or you work on your personal development. You develop talents you didn’t know you had and we are given the space to discover for yourself what you are good at and what you like. And then? Everything you learn in the training courses can immediately be put into practice, because the other 4 days you work in your starter position as a Junior Data Engineer. Under the guidance of experienced colleagues , you will become a specialist in your field in no time. In addition, in the program you will work together with the team on 2 business challenges on themes such as the cooperative energy transition. 

Within the Strategy & Innovation part of the bank, the Data team is hugely influential for progressing towards a data driven way of working. The data team firmly believes that data is a key asset in today’s financial world. It is our team’s mission to support decision making by data to ultimately help more SME customers. Within our team we have the objective to better understand data; where it comes from, how it is used, and what the quality is. We work together with engineering, credit risk, and other teams to continuously unlock new data sources. By doing so, we aim to improve and optimise our data landscape so our department is able to access and use analytics in all aspects of their work.

Examples

  • Work on the implementation of ETL flows in our data infrastructure using PySpark with the Apache Iceberg file format
  • Implement the data storage and data views (we use services like Amazon S3, Glue, Athena, MSK, Lambda, MWAA) and measure the data quality in our data infrastructure
  • Development of APIs for data integration with other services
  • Fix bugs and provide operational support where required for our data infrastructure and ETL flows

  • After which you will continue to work with us as a Data Engineer
  • Hours per week: 40

Your development

To become the specialist in your professional field, in the Young Engineering Professional Program 1 day a week you mainly attend training courses that that support your talent development. The courses are often given by experienced colleagues or trainers with a track record. You build your network, gain valuable experience and develop skills which will be of use to you later in your career.

You and your talent

  • a master degree, in for example computer science or another relevant data analytics study
  • 0-2 years of work experience in data integration & transformation (ETL development)
  • you have (at least) basic knowledge of Python and SQL and you are familiar with Agile and DevOps way of working
  • you have a can do mentality, communication is a skill of yours and you are passionate about data
  • knowledge about AWS Cloud services, Terraform/Docker, Airflow and CI/CD Pipeline is good to have 
  • learns from mistakes
  • adaptive to changing situations
  • focus on the solution

This is a selection of the terms of employment for a Junior Data Engineer based on a 40-hour working week.
