During the Young Professional Program IT (also known as YPPIT) at Rabobank you work on your career one day a week by following technical training, or you work on your personal development. You develop talents you didn’t know you had and you are given the space to discover for yourself what you are good at and what you enjoy . And then? Everything you learn in the training courses can immediately be put into practice, because the other 4 days you work in your starter position as a Junior Data Engineer. Under the guidance of experienced colleagues , you will become a specialist in your field in no time. In addition, in the program you will work together with the team on 2 business challenges on themes such as the cooperative energy transition.

As a bank, we have thousands of business applications which are critical to finances of our customers and the functioning of the organization. Our business is based on data and data is heavily dependent upon IT. Protecting the data of the bank requires an understanding of the applications, operating systems, databases, networks, and security. IT needs an understanding of the business requirements for how quickly data must be recovered and to what point in time and how far back they may need to recover (days, months or even years!).

As a Junior Data Engineer you need to be able to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve the protection of the data every night to ensure we are protected as an organization. We are the last line of defense, so our role is critical to the bank. We have a complex and challenging environment giving plenty of scope to use your creativity, imagination and emerging IT skills to simplify tomorrow what is complex today. We protect our customers banking data, prioritizing security and data privacy.

Examples

• You will be responsible for data protection and recovery of thousands of servers every day. You will troubleshoot and resolve problems across the organization. You will identify recurring issues, create your own automation to deliver fixes and proactively fix issues before they lead to failures in production. This will involve communicating and troubleshooting with teams supporting the operating systems, databases, networks, and applications.

• You will work with engineering teams to improve the environment’s capabilities, testing and implementing new tools or functionality to constantly improve the protection.

• 2 business challenges within the YPPIT

To become the specialist in your professional field, in the Young Professional Program IT 1 day a week you mainly attend training courses that that support your talent development. The courses are often given by experienced colleagues or trainers with a track record. You build your network, gain valuable experience and develop skills which will be of use to you later in your career.

You and your talent

• a bachelor or master degree, or an equivalent working / thinking level

This is a selection of the terms of employment for a Junior Data Engineer based on a 40-hour working week.
