Imagine investing in start & scale-up companies that contribute to the innovation strategy of Rabobank. As part of the Rabo Investments Corporate Venturing (RICV) team you will invest in early-stage technology companies, creating value for our portfolio companies and Rabobank, in a highly dynamic and international environment.

You and your job
As an Investment Director you take the lead in Venture Capital transactions from first conversations with founders and co-investors up to a final exit, aligning all internal and external stakeholder interests on a continued basis. You are also responsible for multiple portfolio companies and coaching of team members.

RICV takes minority equity stakes in B2B software companies active in the financial services market (FinTech) and its cross-overs into climate and agri, with the aim of creating strategic and financial value for the bank. We invest in new business models and emerging technologies. Our investments cover the full scope of the bank, from Retail, SME to Wholesale & Rural. To get access to high quality deal flow & innovation hotspots around the globe we also invest in leading venture capital funds. Some well-known examples of our portfolio companies and funds are SurePay, Tide, Wayflyer, : AgroStar, HV Ventures, SpeedInvest and Balderton.

Get results

• Originating, negotiating and coordinating the execution of equity transactions and end-to-end responsibility for the entire investment process.
• Supporting the growth of our existing portfolio companies and realising exits.
• Establishing and maintaining good relationships with the portfolio companies, the VC community, industry experts and thought leaders in en outside the bank on strategically relevant topics.

• Seed & Series A/B with initial tickets of EUR 2-5mln

Top 3 responsibilities

• Building commercial and strategic relationships with (prospective) portfolio companies and aligning on new investment initiatives with the Rabobank business lines.
• Initiating and presenting high-quality investment proposals to the Investment Committee, overseeing the due diligence & documentation process of a transaction and coaching of junior team members.
• Ensuring internal sign offs from relevant legal, tax, risk and control bodies of Rabobank and overseeing internal reporting processes to ensure compliance to local regulatory frameworks.

You and your talent

• >8 years relevant working experience, preferably in Venture Capital, Private Equity or M&A
• Track record of leading roles in origination, deal structuring and portfolio management within a venture capital and/or private equity context (>20 deals)
• Relevant professional network in the VC and/or Fintech sector
• Entrepreneurial mindset: driving results, taking initiative, showing enthusiasm & courage
• Customer focus, collaboration, accountability and integrity
• Strong written & verbal communication skills and command of English
• You are currently living in The Netherlands and allowed to work here

This is what we offer you

• Monthly salary (scale 11) + holiday allowance (8%) and 13th month
• Additionally: a budget of 11% to spend in several ways (including as extra salary or holiday hours)
• A pension scheme, to which your contribution is only 3.5% or 5.5%, to your choice.
