Attention to all Business Developers with a passion for sustainability. Acorn is looking for a commercially driven person to drive double digit growth a nd scale Acorn into the next phase . Are you up for the challenge?
Acorn, a business unit from Rabobank, creates and sells Ca rbon Removal Units (“CRU”) of 1 tone CO2, captured by agroforestry projects with smallholder farmers in developing countries. Large corporates and financial institutions with ambitious climate goals are our target audience.
You and your job
As Business Developer , you make sure you get the best price for the CRUs and thereby help our smallholder farmers get the maximum value f or the carbon sequestered by the trees that they have planted . You will build trust and lasting relationships with sustainable corporates in a pleasant , representative and respon sive manner. Y ou feel responsible for lead generation and the entire sales process, including aftersales to ensure that the clien ts are satisfied and become recurring buyers of CRUs. Our clients are unique multinationals, such as Microsoft, that are (or will become) customers of Rabobank. You are able to share the uniqueness of the Acorn proposition in a compassionate manner.
G et results
In the role of Business Developer at Acorn you are responsible for the entire Business Development and aftersales process:
Build a pipeline of prospects and a ctively reach out to new leads .
Write and submit RFPs that are accurate , tailored and complete and delivered within the deadline.
Explain the story and concept of Acorn and address any questions or concerns about the carbon credit market .
Determine pricing , draft spot contracts and/or negotiate long term offtake agreements.
C lose deals with leading, sustainable corporates and financial institutions.
Ensure that all new clients successfully complete the client onboarding process.
Nurture and engage regularly with existing clients so they will become recurring buyers of CRUs.
Maintain internal relationships amongst others with the Acorn supply team, Acorn Marketing team and Rabobank Account managers

Part of a young and international team of approx. 50 FTE and 20 nationalities

Reach ambitious growth target (from 200 CRUs to 1mln CRUs next year)
Write and submit RfPs , negotiate contracts and close transactions independently
Share the Acorn story in pitches with clients and in wider public audiences
You are responsible for commercial, public-facing activities of Acorn. You will report directly to the Head of Acorn .

You and your talent
University or HBO degree
Minimum of 3 y ears e xperience with a ccount based sales , closing deals and business development
Ability to work in a dynamic, scale-up environment
Self-starter who pro-actively drives processes and brings them over the finish line
Affinity with development aid , agroforestry and/or smallholder farming
Warm personality that nurtures relationships
You are naturally convincing and empathic
You are currently living and allowed to work in The Netherlands
This is what we offer you
Next to a salary in scale 10 ( max. € 6.741,24 based on a 36-hour contract ) , you will receive a thirteenth month and holiday pay
An additional Employee Benefit Budget (11% of your monthly salary). You decide how to spend this budget. This may include purchasing extra leave days, making extra pension contributions or even receiving a monthly cash pay-out
Pension to which your contribution is only 3.5%
