Senior Specialist Agriculture Technology and Artificial Intelligence

You and your job

As a Senior Specialist Agriculture Technology and Artificial Intelligence, you will focus on two main topics. First, you research trends and market developments in agriculture technology (Ag management/service platforms, GPS services, farm machinery, IoT, 3d printing etc.). Next to that you will cover developments in artificial intelligence and how this impacts companies and industries in food and agriculture and beyond. As a senior specialist you take the lead in creating new research with inspiring insights and innovative ideas. You will do your own research and use your existing network, conferences, working groups, and company visits to share and deepen your knowledge base. You use both public and proprietary data sources to create meaningful insights. Your expertise, creativity and analytical skills will be used to share thought-provoking research with clients, with internal Rabobank stakeholders along with other relevant stakeholders like the media or government.

Some practical examples

The team’s combined forces directly contribute to making a difference for Rabobank and our clients by tackling a broad range of complex strategic questions. For example:

  • Which key strategic drivers will affect agriculture input companies’ decision-making in the next five years?

  • How can technology contribute to more sustainable farming?

  • What technology platform will be used when farms are digitalized?

  • Develop a view on key trends and impacts of AI, placing it in the context of the broader digital transformation challenge of our clients and stakeholders.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Cooperation and stakeholder engagement in a dynamic environment. Your expertise, creativity, analytical and social skills will be used to generate relevant insights for yourself as well as to guide and support colleagues. As a team player you are used to cooperate and to create support and buy-in from others via contagiously passionate and convincing reasoning. You identify and prioritize new research needs and align these with our team’s resources, planning and knowhow requirements. Confronted with opportunities or setbacks, you proactively propose actions and solutions.

  • Our goal is to inform and inspire. You share unique high-quality insights timely, and in an easy, understandable and concise manner. With publications and presentations you reach a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, from senior executive management to execution level.

You and your talent

In depth agtech and strong affinity with AI, a passion for the industry and analytical skills are essential for the role of Senior Specialist Agriculture Technology and Artificial Intelligence. You think in terms of opportunities. A proactive and positive mind-set and the ability to conduct multifaceted research projects is also critical to be successful in this role. Do you recognize yourself in our needs and the list of additional skills and expertise below?

  • You have an academic working and thinking level (I.e. Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT Agriculture, Business, Economics, or Finance)

  • At least 7 years of work experience in an (agriculture) industry subsector, either in industry, research, consultancy or other relevant fields and a relevant network

  • Demonstrable experience with (financial) risk analysis and quantitative analysis of sustainability issues

  • Next to being an excellent analyst, you are a good organizer, take initiative, create support, cooperate and work result-oriented and resiliently with a high dose of execution power

  • Capable of translating complex research into simple clear take-away messages in an engaging way

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing. Other language skills, incl. Dutch, are an advantage

This is what we offer you

  • Salary in scale 10 or 11 (up to € 8,111 gross per month) depending on knowledge, skills and experience, plus a thirteenth month, holiday pay, a generous pension scheme, and an Employee Benefit Budget equal to 11%  of your monthly salary.

  • A 36-hour working week with flexible working times.

  • Hybrid working: together with your team and based on your projects, you decide when you want to use a Rabo House (location Utrecht: at least twice a week), and when you want to work from home or another location (in the Netherlands).
