Monetary portfolio manager
Shape and implement the Eurosystem’s monetary measures as a monetary portfolio manager at DNB.
You will have an impact!
As a monetary portfolio manager you make an important contribution to safeguarding price stability, as our monetary operations are pivotal in influencing financial market conditions throughout the eurozone.
As a monetary portfolio manager, you are involved in the day-to-day implementation of the ECB asset purchase programmes, as well as regular monetary operations. You will be part of a team of five portfolio managers, responsible for negotiating and executing large bond transactions with a number of international banks. Based on your financial market expertise you provide advice to senior management for multilateral policy discussions, such as the ECB’s Governing Council.
What exactly does your job involve?
- You implement DNB’s part of the ECB’s monetary operations (refinancing operations and asset purchase programmes across Dutch government bonds, agencies, covered bonds and RMBS) and DNB’s IMF-related transactions.
- You provide advice on monetary policy measures and the future design of the operational monetary framework of the Eurosystem.
- You identify and interpret important developments on financial markets.
- You actively participate in Eurosystem discussions and maintain close contact with experts at international investment banks and DNB’s monetary counterparties. Occasional international travel is part of the job.
This is where you will be working
As a monetary portfolio manager, you will be working in the Monetary Operations Department at our Amsterdam office, which is responsible for advising on and implementation of the ECB's monetary policy. In this role you have the unique opportunity to learn about a broad range of asset classes and how central banks interact with financial markets. The department consists of 12 portfolio managers and policy advisors who collaborate intensively in an inclusive and respectful manner, both within the team as well as with other areas of DNB. As we are an integral part of the Eurosystem, you closely consult with the ECB and other national central banks on monetary implementation issues. Our portfolio managers are active in financial markets on a daily basis and our researchers are active within the international academic community. Because of the variety of the department's activities, from implementation to policy advice and research, you gain a broad skillset in analysis, policy advice and portfolio management. You will have plenty of opportunities for self-development, which range from on the job training and rotation of tasks, to (international) courses and secondments.
