At a glance

We are looking for a Senior Regulatory Professional who combines sound judgement with the ability to make things happen. You will act as a trusted deputy to the Head of Regulatory Risk Oversight: thinking ahead, stepping in when needed and bringing clarity and momentum to complex topics.

Your remit spans the regulatory compliance framework, regulatory reporting and committee governance. You will connect the dots across these areas, turn emerging ideas into credible proposals and translate decisions into clear, practical next steps.

This role will suit someone who sees the bigger picture, asks the questions others may miss and knows how to bring people with them. You will influence through substance, timing and trust - not hierarchy.

This is an opportunity to play a central role in a developing function and help shape how the bank manages regulatory and compliance risk. You will work close to senior leadership on visible topics, with genuine scope to influence both the thinking and the execution.

You will join a collaborative team that values ownership, practical judgement, entrepreneurial approach, and a positive team spirit.

Your job

As Senior Regulatory Compliance and Governance Expert in the Regulatory Risk Oversight (RRO) team, you will help the bank maintain a clear, forward-looking view of regulatory adherence, delivery risks and matters requiring senior attention.

You will work closely with the Head of Regulatory Risk Oversight and provide cover as deputy when required. This means being able to represent the function with confidence, understand the context behind key decisions and move priorities forward without waiting for detailed direction.

Your main responsibilities are to:

  • help shape and embed the regulatory compliance framework, including the approach to regulatory adherence and compliance gap analysis;
  • translate regulatory expectations into clear proposals, governance arrangements, delivery plans and evidence requirements;
  • lead and deliver the preparation of concise, decision-ready reporting for senior management and governance bodies;
  • shape and produce agendas, papers, recommendations and follow-up for the Regulatory Committee and other relevant forums;
  • turn early-stage ideas into a structured written narrative, document a credible proposal and tangible next steps;
  • act as a sounding board for other RRO team members
  • anticipate upcoming decisions, risks and dependencies, and make sure the right work starts early;
  • bring together information from across the bank, identify the signal in the noise and provide a coherent view of priorities, gaps and progress;
  • challenge content constructively so that it is clear, proportionate and ready for senior decision-making;
  • coordinate stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Client Units and other functions, while keeping ownership and accountability clear;
  • maintain momentum after decisions by clarifying actions, owners, deadlines and escalation points;
  • advise and challenge senior stakeholders with calm confidence, sound judgement and a practical mindset; and
  • improve how the team works by simplifying processes, strengthening reporting and creating a clearer line of sight from regulatory expectation to evidence and outcome.

Working environment

Regulatory Risk Oversight is part of Regulatory Risk & Transformation. The team brings together information from across the bank to create a coherent and forward-looking view of regulatory and compliance risk.

We support senior management and key governance forums by highlighting what matters, where decisions are needed and what could get in the way of delivery. Our remit includes the regulatory compliance framework for existing regulation, consolidated management information and reporting, committee governance and forward-looking risk identification.

The work is visible and varied. You will operate across content, governance and delivery, often on topics that are still taking shape. Success requires someone who can create structure without adding bureaucracy, hold a clear line under pressure and build trust across different perspectives.

Your profile

You are an experienced regulatory professional who is comfortable operating close to senior leadership. You combine content knowledge with strong planning, writing and influencing skills.

You do not wait to be told what to do next. You understand the intended outcome, look ahead, spot what is missing and create a practical route forward. You know when to work independently, when to involve others and when to escalate.

You bring:

  • 7+ years of substantial experience in financial services on the subjects of regulatory compliance, prudential risk, governance and senior regulatory advisory work;
  • a strong understanding of regulatory adherence and the practical transposition of regulations across the organisation’s processes, governance and frameworks;
  • experience with regulatory frameworks, gap analysis, management reporting and committee governance;
  • the ability to deputise for a senior leader and represent a function credibly with senior stakeholders;
  • a track record of turning complex or incomplete ideas into clear proposals, recommendations, delivery plans and measurable next steps;
  • excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to produce concise executive papers and clear management information;
  • strong planning skills and the ability to anticipate dependencies, sequence work and maintain momentum across several priorities;
  • the confidence to challenge constructively, make a recommendation and stand behind it;
  • experience working with supervisory expectations, SREP-related topics, executive committees or bank-wide transformation would be an advantage;
  • the ability to influence without relying on formal authority; and
  • fluency in English.
