ABN AMRO is seeking A Chapter Lead – Analytics Engineering to join the IT value Cluster Customer Data Solutions and lead the AI initiative. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about working at the cutting edge of financial services technology, developing a Gen AI and Agentic AI applications to meet evolving business needs. The Chapter Lead will work closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineer, Product Owners and Platform engineers while leading the team and is expected to have a robust set of technical skills in AI/Machine learning, System design, and coding, combined with strong business support.

As a Chapter Lead - Analytics Engineering, part of your time (40%) will be focused on mentoring and supporting team members, fostering their professional growth and creating a culture of innovation and development. In the remainder of your time (60%), you will work as Senior AI Engineer and would be responsible for developing and reviewing future proof AI solutions. You will collaborate closely with Data Scientists, IT engineers, Product Owners and architects to design and implement Gen AI and Agentic AI applications. Your role will involve contributing to the delivery of AI-powered APIs and internal applications that drive measurable improvements in data quality, customer operations, and efficiency. You’ll build reliable AI features (LLM/RAG, Agentic, document processing) with strong grounding, evaluation, and guardrails—shipped securely and compliantly on Azure & Databricks.

Your main activities:

• Mentor and guide Chapter members in mastering technical craftsmanship.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, including conducting code and design reviews, shaping testing strategies, and ensuring successful delivery of AI solutions.
• Embed security and compliance by design, ensuring adherence to IT guardrails and compliance with ABN’s regulatory framework.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner, Data Scientist, Business Analyst, and Architect to develop and execute the department’s AI strategy.
• Actively contribute to knowledge sharing by participating in triangles, circles, communities, and industry events.
• On a strategic level you make sure that everything continues to work flawlessly, mentor your team, execute and experiment with technical assessments, do interviews and ensure that new employees are properly onboarded.
• Drive operational readiness by managing monitoring, alerts, cost visibility, capacity planning, compliance adherence, and guardrail implementation.
• Take care of the HR processes to facilitate all aspects relating to the influx, development, performance and outflux of employees. Above all, be flexible and willing to learn and develop yourself further and further.

You will be working within the IT Value cluster Customer Data Solutions. The atmosphere within the team and the department is open and informal. You will work in a diverse team with many different nationalities, a good junior-senior ratio and a diverse & inclusive environment.

You will be part of Devops block consisting of 6-8 members and responsible for leading and delivering cutting age AI solutions. We try to keep AI innovation on the forefront of everything we do. Team members are encouraged to experiment with new ideas that further our goal of robustly productional zing AI within a highly regulated environment. What are we looking for:

• 7–10+ years in software / data engineering or AI; 3+ years in a leading role
• Excellent communication with stakeholders; effective leadership of distributed teams (onshore/offshore).
• Innovation and whatever-it-takes mindset. A proactive mindset for generating innovative ideas, coupled with the ability to showcase them through Proof-of-Concepts
• Proven delivery of AI-enabled or web applications: LLM/RAG, embeddings, OCR, with evaluation and guardrails or full stack web app (Front-end, backend, cloud infra)
• Expertise in Azure & Databricks services, including Docker, Python, Kubernetes, Vue.js, SQL, API Management, and Bicep (or equivalent cloud technologies).
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and data quality practices spanning both batch and streaming processes.
• Security & compliance literacy in regulated environments (GDPR, secrets, encryption, RBAC, audit).
• Experience with Data management and Data Governance is a plus.
• English fluency; Dutch understanding is a strong plus
