Senior Regulatory Capital Specialist
In the Model Standards & Guidelines (MSG) team we are looking for a senior Regulatory Capital Specialist. In this role you are supporting the regulatory capital modelling team with model design, model methodology and regulatory compliance. You furthermore advise the model owner of the capital models and model developers how to deal with the regulation in complex situations and upcoming new regulations. The MSG team is also responsible for the modelling process, modelling standards, model environment and supports the model teams with the project management
The Backbone Risk Modelling (BRM) department is setting the foundations for the risk modelling teams. This is ensuring that there is proper modelling and data infrastructure available, for the bank’s critical risk models. Furthermore the team will provide support on the model design, model methodology and regulatory compliance. This BRM department is part of the division Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) and the director of the QRM division is reporting to Chief Risk Officer.
Way of workingThe senior Regulatory Capital Specialist will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the risk model backbone and ensuring that risk models are developed in line with the regulations. The goal is to provide a solid foundation for the development and use of risk models. The role involves advising the model developers and model owner on regulatory requirements. You will be part of the model changes projects and regular model owners meeting. Progress and status are tracked through agile project management tools and regular team meetings. Next year the plan is to start the design of a new IRB and IFRS9 models which combines both models by having one base model and specific calibrations for IRB and IFRS9.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with model owners, data & implementation teams, modelling teams, and other stakeholders to understand the business needs and requirements for the bank's risk models• Translate these business requirements into clear technical specifications and work closely with the IT and data teams to ensure successful implementation• Translate data needs for model development into technical specifications, be the linking pin between modelling teams, technical data & implementation teams and data owners in the business. • Perform a technical test to verify if the requirements are correctly implemented• Support the business owner with the user acceptance test of the implemented solution• Monitor the performance and availability of the technical infrastructure supporting the risk models• Identify and troubleshoot any issues or bottlenecks that may impact the smooth operation of the risk models• Provide support and guidance to model users and stakeholders, ensuring they can effectively access and utilize the risk model data and outputs• Contribute to process improvements and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall reliability and efficiency of the risk model infrastructure
As a senior Regulatory Capital Specialist, you will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, including the ability to bridge the gap between regulation and business needs, effectively manage stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement within the regulatory compliance of A-IRB models.
What do you bring?
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between business and technical teams• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to break down complex issues and identify practical solutions• Experience in a similar business analyst or liaison role, ideally within a financial services or risk management context• Experience with database tools and database languages like SQL is preferred• Familiarity with risk management concepts and financial regulations (e.g., Basel III) is preferred, but not essential• Proven track record in change management and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to navigate organizational dynamics• Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and build productive relationships• Adaptability and a willingness to continuously learn, as the risk model infrastructure and requirements evolve over time
What do we offer?
This position is in scale 11 with a salary range between €79.982,- and €106.642,- gross annual fixed income (13th month and 8% holiday allowance included) and based on 36 hours workweek. In addition, you can count on;
