Product Owner - Observability
The ABN AMRO Clearing Observability Platform block sits within the Platform Grid which is headed by the CTO and provides the strategic platform for monitoring, alerting, log collation and SOC capability for the AACB infrastructure and applications. Splunk is our main observability tool but it is useful to know other monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana and Open Telemetry. The Observability Team is essential in providing the insight, both reactive and predictive, for the AACB infrastructure and application landscape.
We are a global DevOps team that work within the Agile Scrum methodology to deliver our platform in as automated a way as possible and to ensure the platform is easy to consume. The team is highly skilled, customer focussed and driven to succeed in some very complex technologies.
We are looking for an Observability Product Owner with relevant skills, knowledge and experience who enjoys complex challenges and like helping customers to deliver their goals. They will own the Observability Technologies leading the team to deliver compliant, reliable, flexible global solutions to meet the demands and service levels of the business, ensuring great performance of the environments.
The role is a permanent full-time role.
The Observability Product Owner will be responsible for :
- Line management of the engineers in the block
- Manage the sprint cycles, backlog, task allocation and agile process for the block
- Own the products within the Observability remit ensuring the applications are fully compliant within the AACB control framework and with all bank policies and regulations
- Build and maintain relationship with the vendors and fulfil the vendor management controls
- Be responsible for the financial budget of the block
- Work with client blocks and teams to ensure prioritised delivery of features for Observability
- Provide strategy and direction for Observability within AACB
- Work with Architecture, Security and IT Control to ensure the applications provide a well controlled, secure, global solution
- Be the Observability expert for the team
The Observability team needs to :
- Maintain and support the Observability platforms
- Architect, implement, develop and configure current and new Platform solutions across business lines where required
- Write and maintain automation scripts and configuration management tooling
- Embed security into the Platforms and ensure compliance with all bank policies and internal/external regulations
- Work with the architecture team to provide technical expertise to define and implement a global infrastructure to support existing and future projects
- Provide expertise to the Development Services team and teams within the Product Grid regarding the technology and it's usage, covering best practices for business solutions
- Act as a point of contact when dealing with third-party support, including escalating issues
- Liaise with global teams to ensure problems are resolved swiftly and satisfactorily
- Participate in High Availability and Disaster Recovery tests
We are looking for motivated managers that have a professional approach and excellent communication skills
- 3+ years working in a management capacity preferably in Observability
- 5+ years working with Splunk to Architecture Level
- Experience of working in a regulated environment with strict security and compliance controls
- Experience in change and project management concepts, including Agile/Scrum
- Strong organisation and planning skills
- Strong communication skills with global stakeholders
- The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
- The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
- Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
- Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
