Carbon Sales Trader

Markets is the centre of expertise for all financial markets activities and products of ABN AMRO. Markets business is made up of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), FX, Fixed Income & Derivatives (FID) and supported by a central Product Strategy, Management & Control team. FID covers the needs of institutional and corporate clients for all fixed income, environmental products and derivatives. The FID department consist of two commercial teams, FID Sales and FID trading. Part of FID Trading is the Carbon Environmental Solutions desk which engage with corporate clients in different markets and countries on a daily basis, to better understand their needs and translate them into effective, efficient solutions to reduce their carbon footprint. Carbon Environmental Solutions has full end-to-end responsibility in advising, structuring, pricing, execution & risk management of carbon offset trades and strategies in the compliance market.

As a Carbon Sales Trader:

• You will contribute to the further business development of the carbon environmental market in coordination with fellow traders, sales and coverage
• You deeply understand decarbonization journeys and carbon offset behavior and regulatory development in the target markets
• Complete trades from initial dialogues, pricing, and strategy formulation to execution: you design suitable strategies and solutions to meet your clients objectives
• Interacting with stakeholders such as XVA, Corporate FID Sales, Risk, Credit, Legal and Ops teams internally to help enhance client experience and seamless trade execution
• You are quantitatively savvy and have sufficient knowledge and skills in the field of trading systems, tools and processes
• You manage and optimize the portfolios of the bank from a balanced risk, return and scarce resources perspective
• You are curious, creative and always looking for the how and why to be in-control. You use data and other IT-tooling for this
• You provide thought leadership at strategic client interaction and events and with key internal and external market stakeholder
• You adhere to risk mandates and all relevant internal and external policies and regulation
• You report to the Head of Fixed Income and Derivatives Trading, based in Amsterdam.

Markets is a department with a highly specialized group of professionals advising, executing and dealing in financial instruments. The working environment is entrepreneurial, collaborative and complex due to amongst others changing clients’ needs, regulations and the impact of technology and data. This means Markets needs to be responsive and quick on its feet to adjust in this dynamic environment.

We are looking for someone who challenges the status quo and is passionate about markets for environmental solutions and trading.

• 3-5 years of experience in commodity or environmental products structuring, financing or trading
• Academic education level and background
• Experience in trading and risk management of financial market products
• Affinity with technology and understanding data
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, flexible and responsive to requests from fast-paced environment
• Self-starter, innovative and curious mindset
