Currently we are looking for a Risk Specialist to join our Stress Testing team, in the area of climate and environmental risk (CER). Someone who gets inspired and energized by tasks that start with retrieving and combining CER-related data in an efficient and optimal way. Someone who can define data needs, structure the data, followed by proper analysis, visualizations and main conclusions. Someone that can analyze scenarios, run stress testing models, discuss the outcomes with business stakeholders. Someone who can connect the dots and is able to translate and present strategic advises resulting from the stress testing analysis towards Senior Management and – in doing so – generate impact for the bank. Working environment

Banking is the business of taking risks. However, which risks are acceptable and which are not? The CER Stress testing team calculates the impact of those risks in risks metrics such as risk weighted assets or provisions and impairments. Moreover, the team is heavily involved in discussions with senior management the actions that can be performed to mitigate the impact calculated.

As a Climate & Environmental Stress testing colleague you can make a difference by analyzing the impact of the incorporation of CER in our models and stress testing framework. You will keep a close eye on developments around Climate and Environmental Risk and aim to incorporate these in our models and risk assessment. As the topic is still in development, there is a lot to learn.

The Stress Testing team is a diverse team and currently consists of eight professionals with a mix of experience in the field of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG), scenario analysis and building, stress testing and risk management. The Stress Testing team works in close cooperation with colleagues from across ABN AMRO, including the Client Units, Group Strategy, Sustainability Centre of Excellence, Finance, Modelling and the Grids. We are always available to help each other. The Stress Testing team is part of Central Risk Management (CRM) department, that is besides stress testing, responsible for topics like, risk appetite, sustainability risk, capital allocation and enterprise risk management. This offers the opportunity to share your knowledge with and contribute to the deliverables of CRM in a broader context. At the same time it offers you the opportunity to learn more about the wider set-up of risk management. Furthermore, we make time for non-work related activities. We enjoy quarterly “borrels” (drinks), attending (content relevant) events and departmental outings. We also work on our vitality together.

Your job

Your focus area will be the climate and environmental risk stress test. This covers the impact of climate and environmental risks in stress testing activities, and in some specific risk: credit risk, operational risk, business risk. Your job includes activities like:

• Determine data needs and maintain current methodological tools, as well as develop requirements for future tooling

• Run the current tooling and analyze the output, comparing it to other exercises performed in the bank

• Perform results analysis and internal/external reporting of risks

• Advice the MT Risk Management, Group Risk Committee and Executive Board on CER stress testing results and mitigating actions

• Discuss with expert stakeholders on the use of climate and environmental risk scenarios

• You work together in a team of stress test experts and in close cooperation with colleagues from across ABN AMRO.

  • University degree
  • Data skills
  • Experienced in modern programming languages (e.g. Matlab, Python) or statistical languages (e.g. SAS, R)
  • Able to perform stakeholder management and coordinating activities
  • Able to effectively communicate (in written and spoken English) about your analysis and results
  • You are entrepreneurial, proactive, thorough and you have a practical mindset. Quantitative and complex problems give you energy
  • You are flexible and able to work with deadlines
  • Preferred if knowledge of / strong affinity with climate and environmental risk related issues and impact on clients and ABN AMRO
