At a glance

We are looking for an additional colleague in the Credit Protection and Risk Assessment Requirements team in ABN AMRO’s Model Ownership & Data Management Department (MODM). The main role of the MODM department is to act as owner of credit risk models and RWA implementation from a 2nd Line of Defense perspective. Within the MODM department our Credit Protection and Risk Assessment Requirements team is responsible for drafting requirements and data definitions, in particular focusing on RWA calculation and Credit Risk Mitigation (CRM). You will be working predominantly as one of the experts providing input to Credit Risk Forward Program (CRFP), which is leading the drafting of requirements documentation on a wide range of topics. In light of arrears in requirements setting as well as a rapidly changing regulatory landscape the CRFP acts as a catalyst for this change.

Your job

In particular your role is drafting requirements as a RWA Requirements Expert. You are drafting definitions and requirements on the basis of your own knowledge of the CRD/CRR/CoRep/FinRep and other areas of related regulation. You should be comfortable with the CRD/CRR framework, in particular from the perspective of further specifying the implications of the CRR in precise requirements. For more complex discussions, you are able to reach out to regulatory expertise, but they will require you to precisely articulate your questions. Examples of topics that we are currently working on are: the definition of obligors, requirements on group of connected clients, the definition of exposures and more specific CRM eligibility requirements. The topics you are working on are defined in work packages, and our way of working is a semi-sprint based approach.

A key aspect of your role, is to further define data attributes that are already broadly defined in the Bank’s Policies and Standards. Your role also includes discussions with IT implementation teams and business teams to explain the interpretation of regulation and the newly drafted requirements. Additionally, the role encompasses the review of the work of junior colleagues and discussions with policy experts.

Working environment

The MODM department comprises of five teams, focusing on the ownership of pillar I credit risk models, RWA and Segmentation Implementation, Requirements Setting and organizing Data Management. MODM is part of the Credit Risk division, which form the 2nd Line of Defense of credit risk management. Within the Credit Risk division, MODM is one of the shared capabilities, which means that we are aiming to share knowledge with other departments. In particular we support our colleagues in ownership of models and RWA implementation, setting (data) requirements and organizing data management. The vacant position offers opportunities to develop your knowledge of the CRD/CRR framework in a focused context on regulatory requirements.

Your profile

You are a great candidate to become our new colleague, if you meet the following description:

  • Do you have an academic education in a relevant field?
  • Are you a fast thinker that can work on detailed questions as well as overarching challenges?
  • Do you have 5-10 years working experience in a relevant position?

  • Are you experienced in reviewing and challenging RWA requirements in a complex IT and business environment?
