At a glance

The Finance and Risk departments have initiated a major strategic and bank wide program called FRAAI (Finance and Risk Architecture Alignment Initiative), this multi-year program will replace all Finance and Risk systems and processes with one integrated Finance and Risk suite and will change the Data Sourcing for all parts of the bank. To this end the bank has bought the systems of Wolters Kluwer (WK) and SAS. The granularity of data is of an unprecedented level. For one of the Reporting scrum teams that is in the FRAAI chain we are looking for a Business Developer, with an analytical view, affinity with IT, experience with data models or data analysis.

Your job

The central data store for the FRAAI chain named FDA contains the data delivered from the source entities along with processed calculated output done via the SAS risk components. This data is then transformed into the Reporting Data Mart (Data Foundation). The extraction and transformation from FDA to DF is done via a component named DF connector. The jobs and rules for this transformation are created and stored in a WK tool called Maestro that on converts the business rules into SQL queries to perform the ETL activities. The consistency of the data is highly important and any errors would require corrections to be performed to allow the process to continue.

The reporting of granular regulatory reports are done via the WK Regulatory engine component. The process within the reg engine selects and converts the data in the Data Foundation into the format required for each granular report and prepared it for submission. These reports are then validated according to the regulatory rules of each report.

As a Business Developer / expert you work in a dedicated FRAAI team. You will be responsible to support and coordinate the DF connector execution runs during the Data and Release testing. This would involve coordinating with the FRAAI test teams, analysing the issues and validation errors and providing inputs or perform the necessary corrections. You will use your expertise to understand DF connector business rules and validation rules and document them along with the WK ABN colleagues and WK product teams. Along with the team you will be responsible to understand the scope changes to the connector and granular reports delivered as part of the release and communicate the same to relevant FRAAI teams and help them determine the test approach. You will propose changes to improve the maturity of the connector module. You will be responsible in planning the creation of the level 6 processes along with the business stakeholders. The knowledge gained of the components would be shared with colleagues and business stakeholders to prepare for functional and business acceptance testing on the higher environments.

Working environment

The FRAAI program is an international collaboration of multiple vendors, so you will be working with people who have a host of different nationalities. You will part of the Reporting grid and work within the DFCON team. The team has driven and experienced people working within for the big (and pivotal) project within ABN AMRO. The DFCON team is responsible for the DF Connector, supporting process and reports, DF validations, Regulatory engine and the granular reports components. The team is a mix of WK colleagues delivering the product components to ABN and ABN members responsible for the supporting the components on the ABN environments. In our working environment we want to be proactive, find the better solutions, have an agile mindset, challenge each other to do better and we do not mind making mistakes as long as we learn from them.
