Your job

You are an essential senior member of the Food, Retail and Agri team within Corporate Finance, with a personal focus in the team on transactions in food and non-food retail sub-sectors. Working with your Corporate Finance Team members and alongside Client Coverage colleagues, you develop and maintain strong advisory relationships with industry leading companies by combining sector expertise and financial knowledge with your interpersonal skills. In many instances you will be the direct sparring partner for CEOs, CFOs and Heads of Business Development and the Deal Team Captain (m/f) on strategic decision making in relation to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and capital market activity decision making.

You monitor and analyse general market and sector trends in the consumer and retail sectors, follow the performance of companies within the sector and identify advisory opportunities such as mergers, acquisitions and disposals, restructurings, and event-related capital raisings.

As a Director, next to deal origination responsibilities, you are capable of managing as a Deal Team Captain (m/f) on a daily basis the full origination and execution process of a complex merger, acquisition or disposal, including valuation, co-ordination of due diligence, as well as assisting the client in deal negotiations. On a deal basis, you manage the transactional team of Corporate Finance and – where relevant – other product specialists, ensuring timelines and the client’s objectives are met. You are also responsible for the internal Engagement Committee processes on deal by deal basis. As a senior team member, you show active contribution to the team’s business development activities. You also demonstrate leadership potential by coaching junior team members and putting together relevant cross-disciplinary teams.

Working environment

The Corporate Finance department of ABN AMRO Corporate & Institutional Banking, consists of six sector teams and a Capital Structuring and Advisory team, based at the Headquarters of ABN AMRO in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Internationally, you co-operate with the Bank’s local Corporate Finance partners in Western Europe. You will become a senior member of the Food & Retail and Agri Corporate Finance team, covering clients within the food and non-food retail sectors and the entire food value chain from commodities to (retail) consumer products. Your profile

Do you think you are a fit? Check your profile:

• Over 10 years of relevant experience within banking (preferably in Investment Banking or related fields), private equity, professional services and/or strategy consultancy;
• Ability to work and reason at university level; professional training relevant to field;
• Keen interest in and preferably experience on the retail side of the Consumer value chain;
• Proven client-centric skills, developing new opportunities for clients;
• Provides operational leadership to multidisciplinary complex deal teams with internal and external experts and/or officers from the relevant businesses; runs 2-3 deal teams at the same time;
• Proficient financial analysis, valuation and modelling skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Team player and effective stakeholder manager;
• Can act independently and is able to execute more complex transactions on his own;
• Solid understanding of current social and economic developments impacting the sector;
• Understanding of ABN AMRO's vision and strategy, service concepts, business processes, organisation, products and services; and is fluent in English (spoken and written).
