ABN AMRO UK is part of the Corporate Banking business line and operates the following businesses in the UK:

• Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Project Finance, Clearing, Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions coverage
• Commercial Banking which includes Commercial Finance, Lease and Transaction Banking

UK Legal’s strategic objectives are to ensure the effective and efficient management and monitoring of legal risk arising in the ABN AMRO UK Group and to support the delivery of excellent transaction execution.
We achieve this with:

- clear processes and procedures to ensure legal risk is managed consistently and where more resources and expertise are focussed on areas of higher risk;
- comprehensive and accurate record keeping;
- regular, consistent reporting to senior managers and committees combined with understanding and acceptance of these reports;
- full engagement with and by all UK business lines and enablers and with our colleagues in Legal NL;
- ensuring appropriate delegation of legal risk management to the business with clear escalation procedures;
- highly trained staff who can provide high quality legal advice on the variety of topics relevant to ABN AMRO UK; and
- external legal support from trusted and appropriate providers.

The UK Legal team is involved in a huge variety of work, and you may be expected to assist in any of the areas that we advise on such as lending, financial services regulatory, corporate, commercial, data protection, litigation or employment. The kind of tasks that you might assist with could include reviewing documents on lending transactions or commercial contracts entered into with the bank’s suppliers or carrying out legal research on new or existing laws or regulations (such as the FCA’s consultation on diversity and inclusion in the financial sector).

• Interested in a career in law. It is not necessary to have studied or be studying law.
• A motivated interest in Financial Services
• Ability to communicate clearly and comprehensively with a variety of audiences
• Solid IT skills; proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Ability to read and digest large volumes of information demonstrating attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving and analytical skills
• Organised and methodical
• Strong research skills
