ING Compliance is looking to hire a Compliance Specialist.


The STO department supports the design and execution of the Compliance Vision 2022 and the underlying deliverables. More specifically, a strategy has been formulated to transform the global function while operating under a mission statement to be “Compliant by Desire and Design” (Project SOLAR) and has merged with delivery of SREP requirements across Compliance.

The STO team is: working together based on knowledge and expertise, as well as the skill set needed to best perform the job; a challenging environment that is currently going through a transformation; the team is working with senior internal stakeholders, global stakeholders and external stakeholders; a highly ambitious team where pro-activity and initiative are embraced.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Compliance Specialist:

• You are an expert coordinator who will maintain oversight and planning on project milestones, prioritising and chasing when necessary, and maintaining spreadsheets and dashboards;

• You have a global vision on the compliance strategy;

• You take responsibility for specific deliverables within the team; and work together with STO team members to achieve expected results, perform analysis and come up with solutions or find alternatives;

• You hold discussions with stakeholders at all levels of ING;

• You keep abreast of significant developments and/or changes in relevant laws, regulations and good business practices, and on significant internal developments which may have an impact on the compliance risk profile of ING Bank;

• You contribute to monthly (internal) and quarterly (external) reporting, creating dashboards and reports, assisting in the shift to take project reporting to next level risk reporting;

• You align and liaise with key internal stakeholders, relevant internal experts and Element Owners;

• You work together with the team on preparation, coordination and execution of on-going and ad-hoc meetings in cooperation with relevant global stakeholders, online and in person;

• You track various finance and FTE data for the department as required or needed;

• You ensure timely, smooth and complete follow-up on action items (internal and external).

• You understand the elements and principles of governance in a compliance environment and have professional knowledge of risk management, reporting, change management, the related processes, technology and/or developments;

• you can prioritise and quickly, processing large quantities of information, to come to the essence of issues;

• you are result driven and having a hands-on mentality;

• furthermore, you adhere to the ING values, and it is evident for you that your behaviour is fully aligned with these values. You are also prepared to take the Banker’s Oath.

Skills required

• University degree, knowledge of compliance, banking business, processes, procedures and systems;

• 5-10 years of proven experience in a compliance and/or risk management environment (change management and regulatory experience also a plus);

• self-starting capabilities;

• learning agility and innovative mindset;

• ability to work across functional and geographic lines;

• fluent in English;

• organisational sensitivity;

• flexibility: adjusts approach, seeks different paths in a targeted manner;

• customer focus and customer interest; takes personal responsibility.
