Oracle DBaaS Lead Engineer

The opportunity

In the Cloud tribe, in the Data Services area the position of lead engineer / tech lead for DBaaS has opened up.

 

In the current organizational structure of DBaaS there are 5 squads, headed by 2 Product Owners that closely work together. Squad members hierarchically report to chapter leads in the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland.

We are looking for a lead engineer / tech lead for DBaaS that strengthens decision making with his/her technical Oracle and/or ING DBaaS expertise.

Roles and responsibilities

• Be the number one trusted advisor to the two POs and the ITAL when it comes to technical challenges. You will regularly accompany them to meetings.

• Be a sparring partner for architects, DBaaS engineers, DBaaS POs, DBaaS consumers and when needed involved in escalations towards Oracle.

• Organize and steer technical discussions between squads when needed.

 

This role differs from being a senior engineer in one of the five DBaaS squads. In this role you will not be part of one specific squad, but you will be in touch with all of them regularly.

• Has deep technical Oracle and/or ING DBaaS knowledge and enjoys explaining concepts.

• Is a clear communicator and good listener, meaning you are comfortable with speaking up in front of a group, but you also pay attention to the opinion of other engineers.

• Has a good feeling for when to be explicit and when to be more reserved.

• You spot opportunities for improvement and help steer teams to realize the m.

• Have experience with delivering a platform as a service to global consumers.

• Problem solver who understands external influences in internal strategy.

• High level of English.

Technologies:

• 8 + years of Experience with Oracle Database technologies including but not limited to;

• RAC and Dataguard installations

• Exadata

• Oracle Enterprise Manager

• Database virtualization

• Well versed in Azure DevOps, CD/CI tools and pipelines.

• Linux RHEL experience

• Scripting experience with e.g Python, Bash

• Knowledge of Configuration Management tools like Ansible, Puppet.
