The Digital Sales Manager is responsible for the digital sales of all fee-based products for the business segment, while also improving digital sales marketing automation and performance data & insights. ING Business Banking in The Netherlands
In The Netherlands, ING is leader in business banking. It serves at least a third of the market, which translates into almost €1,5 billion in revenue and €36 billion in outstanding loans. The Digital & Remote Sales team deals with companies from 1 employee (freelancers), and up to a revenue of EUR 20 M. This represents about 95% of all ING NL’s business customers. ING is digitally more advanced than most large banks and has a leadership position in the Dutch market for business banking with about one third of market share.
The role
The Digital Sales Manager is responsible for the acquisition of new business clients and the commercial performance of all fee-based products we offer digitally to our business clients. These include business accounts, savings, merchant services, credit cards, insurance and investments. In addition, the digital sales manager is also responsible for our efforts around personalization, making sure our digital proposition is offered with a personalized experience. This role manages a 10 FTE team of marketeers with expertise including content, performance, and customer journeys optimization. In addition, strong stakeholder management skills are needed to align and cooperate with product teams.
Our digital sales operation in Business Banking is still early stage, as are marketing automation and business analytics. This role thus requires a good understanding of B2B marketing, as well as a view on how to build and advance the digital sales organization. Since this year, the priority for the Digital & Remote Sales team is to implement the necessary systems, data and insights platforms, and manage migrations – all while still hitting the sales targets. Thus, besides a vision for ING’s digital customer journey, a strong goal-oriented sales mentality is essential.
The team
The Digital & Remote Sales team is part of Business Banking Sales NL together with the 4 regions and product teams, with the challenging mission to make ING the best bank for business in the Netherlands. We are responsible for the commercial performance (P&L) and customer satisfaction of all business clients that are serviced digitally or via remote advice. The department is structured along the 5 areas: marketing, digital sales for fee products, digital sales for loan products, digitization & CX and Remote Advice.

For our future Digital Sales Manager, we are looking for a candidate who speaks and writes fluently Dutch and English . Furthermore, has at least 10 years of professional experience and excels in the following four fields:
Digital Sales / e-Commerce : we are looking for someone who is experienced with running a digital sales operation. Someone who understands that digital sales is so much more than offering a product digitally. Someone who knows how to collect, analyse and act on the right data and information. Someone who has a natural sales mentality.
Marketing experience B2B: You have experience with campaign management and paid media with a focus on mid and lower funnel. In order to roll out a successful digital marketing strategy, we need to understand our customers’ needs and the different propositions through and through. This also requires close monitoring and effective use of our marketing budget.
Customer strategy : in a world in which our customers are becoming increasingly more digital, but not all at the same speed, a world in which our margins are under pressure and the rules in the field of compliancy and KYC are becoming increasingly strict, it is important for us to think strategically about which customer groups we should focus on (and on which ones we should not). Therefore, we are looking for someone who can think strategically. Someone who has very good numerical skills and can translate those numbers to concrete marketing and sales actions.
Coaching and people : as the digital sales manager you will also be part of our lead team. When it comes to the development of our people in the field of Digital Sales, you will have to decide in what and how we should develop in order to be successful. Additionally, you will need to be a natural coach for our people, who can motivate his/her employees, acknowledge talent and develop their skills.
