Analyst / Associate within Wholesale Banking Energy
We have an exciting position vacant for an Analyst or Associate to act alongside PAMs and/or Deal Principals (“DPs”) in providing creative solutions through a broad range of ING products to clients active in the Energy Sector in EMEA. The ING Wholesale Banking Energy Sector within in Amsterdam consists of the following sub-sector teams: (i) Energy Renewables & Power, (ii) Energy, Upstream, (iii) Energy, Midstream & Downstream, and (iv) Energy, Utilities. As Analyst or Associate you will be part of the Energy Talent Pool engaging with each of the sub-sector teams and its clients, working on multiple tasks at the time.
You will be working in a dynamic client-facing team of highly dedicated Energy professionals in Amsterdam serving clients in the EMEA region. The vacancy involves regular contact with clients, prospects, banks, technical and legal advisors as well as frequent cooperation with internal departments such as Credit Risk Management, Legal, Deal Execution, and Loan Capital Markets.
Key responsibilities:
ING is committed to a client-centric approach in Energy. Energy EMEA clients include (i) oil & gas exploration, production and distribution companies, (ii) utility companies, (iii) (renewable) power producers and project developers, (iv) contractors and other services providers, (v) specialised (renewable) infrastructure investment funds, etc.
You will support the (sector) PAMs in striving to meet the clients’ needs in the best possible manner:
- by originating, structuring, executing and monitoring Lending transactions; and
- by actively engaging and collaborating with colleagues who specialise in other products, including Corporate Finance, CS&A, Debt Capital Markets, Financial Markets, Loan Capital Markets, Transaction Services, etc.
In your role as deal team member, you will:
- (start to) develop a profound understanding of the Energy sector (including what the Energy Transition and new energy technologies mean for our clients and ING);
- monitor the existing credit portfolio;
- assist in the origination of new business opportunities, preparation of marketing pitches, preparation of greenlight and credit packs, review of due diligence materials, assist in documentation negotiations and financial modelling;
- prepare and efficiently process credit applications (and interact with credit risk management and other internal stakeholders);
- assist with the execution efforts for mandated transactions to ensure their timely and successful closing;
- maintain and develop (new) client relationships by actively scouting for business opportunities and following-up on leads and queries;
- closely collaborate (cross border) with Energy team members, and share responsibility; and
- monitor sector, market and technological developments.
Qualification Requirements:
- Excellent team player with consistent high marks on Orange Code behaviour;
- University degree in Economics, Engineering, Law and/or an MBA; CFA would be a plus;
- Prior Energy sector knowledge would be a plus;
- High level of self-motivation and commercial drive;
- Ability to multitask and demonstrated ability to perform under tight deadlines;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Financial modelling skills are a plus;
- Your curiosity makes you want to understand things in detail;
- Flexible and with a global mindset;
- Authentic and confident presentation and communication skills;
- High proficiency in English (verbal & written) is a must.
