ING is looking for an experienced, people oriented tribe Lead Non-Financial Risk for Domestic Bank NL. You will play a key role to foster risk culture within the DB NL organisation while further strengthening the DB NL NFR Tribe. This important position will contribute to the efficient and effective implementation of ING’s non-financial risk management framework components & have a leading role to steer DB NL NFR in its next phase.

The ideal candidate for this role should also be able to contribute to and operate within the “One Global NFR” model aiming at one global standardized model with clear mandates and roles and responsibilities that are globally consistent.

As tribe lead Non-Financial Risk you will be operating in a diverse and challenging international environment, interacting with, amongst others, the ECB and Dutch national competent authority, the other DB NL CRO Leadership Team members and the DB NL Tribes, the Global Head of NFR & ORM as well as the relevant NFR teams.

This role will report hierarchically to the CRO ING Netherlands and functionally to the Global Head of Non-Financial Risk.

The purpose of the NFR (ORM-IRM) department is:

Contributing to results by managing the associated non financial risks within the defined risk appetite. The increasing digitization of our clients leads to new challenges in the areas of Operations Risk Management, IT Risk Management, and/or Fraud risks. The NFR team is a Second Line of Defense function supporting these elements. We bring expert knowledge and hands-on guidance to raise operational risk awareness, increase operational risk & loss transparency, improve early warning information, action-tracking & follow-up and provide challenge and advice on all change initiatives related to products.

This requires excellent leadership skills from the Tribe Lead NFR in addition to good professional knowledge and persuasiveness.

The most important Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Taking a leading role in supporting general management with raising NFR awareness, providing relevant (e.g. business line specific) expertise and knowledge while governing, managing, monitoring and reporting on the DB NL non financial risks in adherence with the Global NFR Framework and Risk Appetite.

  • Contributing to group risk assessment and reporting processes

  • Providing NFR expertise, credible challenge and advice to the DB NL colleagues based on a thorough understanding of our banking products and service as well as change initiatives.

  • Increasing operational risk & loss transparency, improving early warning information, action tracking & follow-up through data driven transition and analytical insights.

  • Understanding both group and local organizational perspectives i.e. translate global strategic initiatives, upcoming global or local regulations & guidelines to practical plans at local DB NL level.

  • Achieving results through collaboration as well as open and effective communication across functions and DB NL Tribes.

  • Sharing knowledge and best practices within DB NL Risk, across DB NL organisation and with Global NFR resulting in improved efficiency and collaboration.

  • Managing the DB NL NFR department budget and financials to enable realize set targets.

  • Steering the DB NL NFR department where everyone feels appreciated and heard, but above all enjoys the work that he or she does.

Your competencies, knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Fully trusted and matured counterpart for senior management including MBB, and Regulators.

  • Ability to steer change across the organisation & navigate a political environment.

  • Strong affinity and understanding of DB NL’s products and processes.

  • Clear affinity in digitalization, new technologies and making efficient use of data (analytics)

  • Ability to lead and steer organizations in specific risk categories including Technology and Information Security, Fraud, Data management,

  • Strong people manager skills, showing energy and passion

  • Mature and flexible in terms of communication and organization transformation.

Track record / Background

  • University education

  • 5-10 years of experience in the field of Risk Management.

  • 10-15 years of managerial experience

Location

The location for this role will be Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The preferred candidate is willing to relocate to Amsterdam if not currently living in the Netherlands.
