The opportunity
As the Remuneration Regulations Expert you are responsible for managing and advising on EU/NL related remuneration regulations and governance matters as it relates to policies, practices, processes and corporate governance initiatives

Remuneration Regulations & Corporate Governance – provide support in managing EU/NL related regulations and governance matters as it relates to policies, practices and processes and staying abreast of regulatory and corporate governance developments.

Reward Governance – supporting in the preparation and submission of Management Board and RemCo papers. Writing policies and procedures documents.

Risk Governance – supporting in the coordination, liaison, preparation of materials, attendance at the Reward Committee and Cross-Control Function Committee, as required. Run briefings/trainings on remuneration regulations related topics when relevant. Managing the audit and SOX related activities in Reward Governance.
The team
In your role you will report to the Reward Governance Leads where you will be part of a small specialist team within the Executive Reward and Remuneration Regulations department, which is part of the Global HR Performance & Reward function. The team is made-up of international colleagues located in the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
Roles and responsibilities
Remuneration Regulations & Corporate Governance

Support the Executive Reward & Remuneration Regulations team with the annual review, development and management of the ING Remuneration Regulations Framework (IRRF) policy.

Provide Subject Matter Expertise and technical support to global and local teams on implementation of relevant EU/NL regulations to remuneration plans, policies, processes, etc.

Involvement with projects as they relate to remuneration regulations issues/changes and evaluate ING remuneration policies, practices and processes against evolving regulatory landscape.

Support in managing the Annual Remuneration Report (ARR) project, plan and working group including developing proposals, managing the report production and facilitating the end-to-end process.
Reward Governance

Support in the preparation of papers for the Management Board and Remuneration Committee of the Board, in particular the Identified Staff population remuneration as well as across a broad range of other topics, as required.

Assisting with preparation of response to various regulators, as required.

Support the team in managing aspects of the pay and benefits proposition as it relates to remuneration regulations and governance for the Bank’s executives and senior manager population.
Risk Governance

Support in the coordination, liaison and preparation of materials related to the Reward Committee and Cross-Control Function Committee. Work closely with the countries to review and ensure local compensation plans and schemes are compliant with remuneration regulation standards.

Training P&R/HR colleagues and key stakeholders on practical implementation of remuneration and risk governance and regulatory requirements.

Managing the annual risk audits and SOX processes.
Process Improvement, Risk management and Regulatory Compliance
Continuously look for process improvements to reward solutions:

Taking a balanced approach to regulatory compliance and risk management in areas such as SOX controls, Regulations and Statutory Reporting.

Identifies, assesses, manages, reports and improves risks and controls.
Internal and External Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Builds effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders with an aim to support the realisation of the Executive Compensation and Remuneration Regulations strategy:

Coordinate and closely collaborate with senior control function heads in the Reward Committee and Cross Control Function Committee.

Coordinate and closely collaborate with CoSec, Investor Relations, Regulatory Affairs as well as other cross-functional and senior HR and business leaders in managing the Annual Report.

Liaise and educate/brief local P&R teams on Group related reward/risk and regulatory provisions.

Attend and participate across reward topics with HRD and HR/P&R teams, as required.

Manages relationships with third party providers and consultancies (including lawyers, auditors, etc) to ensure value for money and an efficient service and contract management.
How to succeed?
-
At least 5+ years of practical experience of working within reward or remuneration regulations function (or equivalent).
-
Deep understanding of the NL/EU regulatory compensation environment and its application in banking or financial services industry.
-
Must be fluent in Dutch language.
-
Experience in managing and advising various stakeholders (such as HR and business leaders) on remuneration regulations.

Strong organisational and analytical skills.
-
Proficiency in using MS Office (Advanced Word and PowerPoint, Intermediate Excel)

Ability to work effectively as part of a remote team & independently.
-
Ability to summarise and articulate complex legislation/process into easily understood information.
-
Ability to work in a matrix environment, manage multiple partners simultaneously and escalate as appropriate.
-
Ability to effectively communicate and partner with colleagues within and outside of HR as well as with senior business stakeholders from Legal, Risk etc.
