We are looking for a strong IT Area Lead for Global Assisted Platforms, with a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enthusiasm for helping others to be successful and a knack for always being a step ahead. In other words, you strive to bring fresh ideas to life and embrace challenges in a fast changing and complex environment. You are a naturally collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to propose creative solutions to problems.

The IT Area Lead will be working in Assisted Channels domain, will be reporting to IT lead and will be contributing to define and implement the IT strategy for his/her own IT Area in line with the bank’s IT strategy. He/she will be mainly managing and coordinating ING Tech functions for global platforms CC 2.0 and IRIS, will be responsible for enhancement, stability, maturity, security, risk, availability and operations of the platforms and applications.

CC 2.0 and IRIS are global platforms which are being consumed by many different entities in ING, including Netherlands. We are looking for someone who combines senior leadership skills with content knowledge of area and strong technical knowledge. The IT Area Lead will be working closely with many stakeholders in DBNL, global providers, other consumer countries and vendors, he/she aligns them around a common vision for the platforms. Additionally creates and executes a plan for the target architecture.

The team

IT Area comprise around 70-80 engineers working across the Netherlands, ING’s Tech Hubs in Manilla and with our strategic partners in India. New IT Area Lead will be responsible for creating a balanced team of internals/externals with a good Dreyfus maturity distribution. In addition to that as an IT Area Lead at Global Assisted Platforms he/she will be responsible for leading the engineers working in the area with direct reports such as the Chapter Leads, building an excellent engineering culture, and guiding them for development of the team for the required skill sets.

Roles and responsibilities

A successful IT area Lead

  • Uses his/her skills to attract and retain the best engineers and create the best culture in Agile way of working
  • Creates an atmosphere in which everyone feels appreciated and heard, and where everyone enjoys their work
  • Responsible for ensuring overall IT maturity and acts as coach for his Chapter leads on a daily basis
  • Values engineering craftsmanship and develops craftsmanship of the employees working in his/her respective area. Provides high-level strategic guidance to the chapter leads
  • While changing & moving forward, keeps the bank safe, compliant & reliable
  • Drives the global target discussions, together with other stakeholders
  • Keeps IT budget related to the area in control
  • Encourages his/her chapters to invest in innovation
  • Keeps IT Risk for all assets in the area under control
  • Works closely with Product Area Lead on the delivery of the squads

  • Education: IT education background and a Master’s degree
