ING Bank Client Tax Services in the Netherlands is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Tax Operations Specialist who will be servicing ING Subsidiaries and Branches to comply with Client Tax Withholding and Reporting obligations. You will be part of a circle team (approx.. 10 FTE) who are jointly responsible for delivering these services. You have a naturally curious nature and are willing to learn and develop in a niche, specialist expertise area. You are energized by teamwork, supporting others in delivering first rate quality to clients and have an aptitude for working with various types of data and data processing. The client needs drive the work, meaning shifts are required and the work does not stop until delivered to the clients.

The opportunity

Client Tax Services is a small, highly specialized unit that fulfils the ING tax obligations related to:

  • US Tax Withholding and reporting;
  • FATCA/CRS reporting;
  • DAC6 reporting;
  • Client Form Validation;
  • Tax Documentation re. Relief at Source and Tax reclaim;
  • QI & FATCA Certifications IRS.

The objective of the department is to ensure that ING meets its client tax reporting obligations and is compliant with the tax regulations in the countries in which its operate. Furthermore the service oriented nature of the department implies we are generally involved in supporting other departments (WB, KYC, etc.) in improving data, operations or client servicing.

Roles and responsibilities

A Tax Operations Specialist will be involved in and perform various operational activities to fulfil the departments objectives. The activities are amongst others the following:

  • Validate US tax forms (W8/W9) and document in appropriate systems
  • Support reporting on FATCA & CRS
  • Support US Withholding & reporting
  • Support reporting, filing and reclaiming non US Withholding Tax
  • Support and actively work on improving internal processes and service operations
  • Perform various tasks related to maintaining the department operations, such as:
    • Communications to LFCs (newsletters, calls, ad hoc questions)
    • Detailed investigative work on specialist topics
    • Data quality investigations and analyses
    • Process, Control & Risk activities (documenting, testing, reporting of work done).

As an experienced Operations Specialist you will also be involved in more complex cases, coach and support more junior specialists and may be asked to take on certain managerial tasks. You will also assist in stakeholder management activities.


The Team

The Client Tax Services team currently exists of approx. 25 FTE.

The team consists of highly skilled Tax professionals, Operations specialists and Change professionals. You work in a small team (circle) with 10 colleagues, in principle responsible for delivering daily operational services in line with the service catalogue.

Candidates meet the following job requirement:

  • Understanding of and hands on experience with key regulations (such as US withholding, FATCA, CRS, DAC6) and their respective effects on the operational landscape of Client Tax reporting;

  • Experience (2-4 years) in USW Tax reporting (W-Form validation, 1099B, 1042 & 1099) and applications generally used in this type of work (such as MD3, 1099 Pro etc.);

  • Good understanding of US QI & Certification requirements & process;

  • You are a team player with the ability to coordinate teamwork as well as operate individually;

  • Experience in working with systems, data and processes;

  • Proactive, Can-Do, No Surprises and Positive mind-set, overall service minded with a healthy work ethic and a willingness to collaborate;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (orally and in writing) skills;

  • Proven ability to operate in big organisations;

  • Experience with working in complex international environments;

  • Fluent in English.
