The Opportunity

Are you ready to join a dynamic client-facing team of specialists who provide tailor-made syndicated financing solutions for our international Trade & Commodity Finance (“ TCF ”) clients? Do you want to share your knowledge and experience on syndicated finance and structured lending in the interests of our clients and the future of our bank? We are looking for an Vice President / Director to join our dynamic Loan Capital Market Trade & Commodity Finance (“ LCM TCF ”) team.

ING is a lead bank in the global market for TCF, particularly in EMEA and Asia, and for the last years expanding its footprint in the US, by supporting its clients in complex and structured solutions for their financing needs. The team has a high transaction flow, varying from plain vanilla clean revolving credit facilities to multi-jurisdictional complex borrowing base facilities.

The candidate will be responsible for the origination and execution of syndicated transactions for the LCM TCF team. Including the gathering of market intelligence, pitching, structuring, pricing and documentation of syndicated transactions. This involves working closely with an international team existing of stakeholders of staff from clients, credit, legal, agency and operations. Next to this you maintain a good internal network, take the lead in the preparation and execution of pitches and work together with other product areas. Your entrepreneurial attitude is essential and will be an asset to our team. As senior in the team you maintain high level client relationships at CEO, CFO and treasury level as well as bank and institutional investor contacts and have seasoned multiple year deal execution capabilities.

The EMEA team consists of 3 colleagues based in Amsterdam. We work closely together in an open and collaborative atmosphere.

The Role & Key Responsibilities:

As an Vice President / Director in the Loan Capital Markets TCF EMEA team you will be supporting the various Wholesale Banking Sector Coverage teams across EMEA with main responsibilities being:

Client and transaction origination:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the relevant Sector Coverage Teams based in Amsterdam and Geneva;

  • Together with the relevant Sector Coverage Team identify, develop and acquire relationships with clients of ING;

  • Originate, structure, price and negotiate syndicated loans. This would entail the production of or delivering input for client presentations relating to transaction opportunities, structuring transactions to win the mandate and negotiating terms and conditions;

  • Working within the team in Amsterdam with particular focus on the global TCF market and sharing market intelligence with the teams in New York, Singapore and Hong Kong.

  • Together with the FMDS team, identify and maintain relationships with financial institutions including non-bank lenders.

Revenue generation:

  • Contribute to the team revenue target for the financial year and maximize the quality of those earnings.

Transaction execution and management:

  • Manage and assist in the execution and financial closing of syndicated transactions, including the management of the documentation process;

  • Prepare Syndication Advices for senior (credit and risk) management that opine on credit quality and the marketability of syndicated transactions arranged and/or underwritten by ING.

  • Work closely together with the senior and junior team members

The profile of the colleague we are looking for:

Main requirements

  • You have (6-10 years) relevant experience with structuring complex and tailored financings, preferably gained in a Sector Coverage Team or in a comparable Syndicated Finance function;

  • You can systematically analyze problems and have a high quality standards and attention to detail;

  • You are fluent in English and Dutch;

  • You have the ability to handle particulars of the origination, execution, documentation and closing of syndicated transactions;

  • You are self-aware and are able to work under tight deadlines and significant pressure as an individual and as part of the team;

  • You have the ability to work in an assertive and diplomatic style towards your contacts at different levels, both internally and externally;

  • You are eager to learn, curious, flexible, self-starting and with a “take it on and make it happen” mentality;

  • You are a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and a good representative of the team, both internally and externally.
