Your job

As an IT Engineer with ABN AMRO you will be responsible for developing, extending and maintaining one of the largest corporate lending platforms in the Netherlands managing literally billions of Euros in corporate loans to airlines, multi-national shipping, construction, and energy companies. It's a big role and a big opportunity to learn and grow through exposure to new technologies and tools as well as the chance to develop and extend your experience with industry leading platforms.

Your core focus will be designing solutions and solving interesting problems with your experience in technology. You'll give input into architectur, regularly meet with stakeholders from other departments, and be involved in creating specifications for our vendors and liaising with them to ensure that your designs are being executed faithfully.

If you're up for it, there is plenty of opportunity to put your DevOps skills to use by coding proof of concepts and deploying them in the cloud, optimising databases for performance, interacting with API endpoints and more. If you're new to any of these things we have dedicated specialist knowledge teams you can learn from from and consult with to ensure your solution designs cover non-functional aspects such as monitoring, performance and information security. Don't forget to take full advantage of your training budget to earn further certifications while you work with us.

We're an Agile/Scrum team so you can expect to be join a mature team with daily stand ups and regular reviews of our work, and retrospectives where you'll have a voice in how we keep our work fun and engaging.

Your team

The team consists of a mix of international intermediate and senior IT Engineers. We work in a hybrid mode mainly from home and partially from the office. The way of working is pragmatic, hands-on and curious and open towards their place in the bigger organisational IT transformation program which will lead them to become a true DevOps team. Within the department they work closely with other teams who are responsible for the downstream applications to continuously improve their way of working.

Your profile

People Skills

  • Excellent fluency in English
  • Basic fluency in Dutch will help but is not required
  • Working experience with Scrum/Agile principles
  • Assertive in asking questions, challenging others and him/herself
  • Able to align with colleagues cross teams/vendors/stakeholders
  • Taking ownership


Technical Skills

  • Some experience in set-up and execution of API’s
  • Experience in solution design
  • Experience in business analysis
  • Experience in working within complex application environments
  • Knowledge/a good understanding of credit and loan products in general
  • Experience with ITIL process
  • Basic SQL to support analysis of issues/solution designs etc
