Dev Engineer – Working Capital Solutions

The Working Capital Solutions IT area is responsible for the design, modification and maintenance of the software solutions used to process Receivables Finance and Supply Chain Finance products. The business is active in Europe and Asia and has a very solid market presence. The IT department is mostly based in Amsterdam and is part of the Trade Tribe of the ING Wholesale Banking domain.

At ING we are in a dynamic and intensive journey to further digitalize the bank. We are looking for a development engineer passionate about software evolution and IT landscapes where different generations of software technologies co-exist. In this role you will work in one of the squads located in the Amsterdam.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Development Engineer you will combine analytical, technical, and functional expertise to perform the following activities:

• Extend the FactorLink application capabilities by designing and implementing new functionalities, following the prioritizations by the product owner and our stakeholders.
• Deliver improvements to the FactorLink application as it evolves, also by identifying and eliminating technical debt when appropriate.
• Extend the code and usage of the FactorLink API according to the guidelines of ING’s touchpoint strategy.
• In close collaboration with feature engineers and domain architect, work on the end-to-end integration of systems in the Working Capital Solutions area (including the incorporation of Fintech solutions into our landscape).
• Automate and execute tests (for new functionalities, regression, performance, or integration).
• Support end users with technical and functional queries.
• Provide first and second line production support FactorLink and its interfaces. Solve problems/incidents in collaboration with Ops Engineers and customer journey experts.
• Continuously improve your own technical and functional expertise.

Your profile:

• University degree in Computer Science or engineering with strong IT background.
• 4+ years of experience as software engineer, using solid fundamentals of computer science.
• Hands-on experience with software system’s specification, design and integration.
• Experience building/maintaining software solutions in Magic (4GL) or another 4GL development framework.
• Experience with software development in Java and Java Spring Boot.
• Experience with API design, development, and consumption.

• Good knowledge of SQL / MSSQL.
• You enjoy having the knowhow in multiple technologies and software development methods, and you can apply them into new ideas and concrete solutions.
• You are always trying to improve your skills and get to better at what you do, to be able to keep adapting to the new situations and always deliver the highest quality results.
• You are available to participate on application support activities outside office hours (e.g. early or late shift during weekdays and weekend deployments).

Your background also shows most of the following skills:

• Knowhow in the domain of Working Capital Solutions products and/or relevant experience within the banking domain.
• Experience with engineering solutions to run on Windows infrastructure.
• Working knowledge on continuous delivery/integration pipelines, such as AzureDevOps, and their core functions.
• Good knowledge of ITIL processes.
• Experience with agile ways of working.
• Experience working in a complex and challenging IT environment.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and writing skills in English.
• A team player with a 'make it happen' mentality, eager to learn and with ability to influence others towards delivering with excellence.
• Self-disciplined, proactive and organized, with ability to identify what needs to be done.
