IT Chapter Lead Finance Accounting
ING Bank NL is looking for a passionate and inspiring IT Team lead (within ING we use the title Chapter Lead), with a solid software development background and hands on mentality.
Software development is fully shifted-left, based on a latest technologies Oracle PL/SQL, Java and Azure whereas accounting is standardized and centralized across the different branch/subsidiaries within the bank using aptitude accounting hub solution.
The opportunity
You will fulfill an important chapter lead role as senior software engineer, in a dynamic DevOps team. You will be there to strengthen the team and bring it to the next functional/technical level. The extensive automation of IT development, testing and deployment processes requires an interest in IT. Combined with a strong interest in Finance (Accounting), a perfect combination.

The team
Group Services is part of ING TECH and manages the applications, systems and processes needed for ING Group entities like Finance, Risk and HR. Group Services takes care of application development and configuration, and performs various operational IT activities.
Group Services is also responsible for the development and delivery of change initiatives in these ING Group entities, whereby we adhere to the Spotify model and have implemented the Agile Way of Working.
The chapter is positioned within the Finance tribe Accounting and is primarily responsible for building Aptitude Accounting Hub (AAH) as an accounting solution and PeopleSoft as one General Ledger for all the countries. AAH is our strategic and standard solution for detailed and customer level accounting in ING.
The chapter is distributed across various geography and has an agile mind-set, an eye and drive for continuous improvement, is Risk aware and has eagerness to learn and adapt. The chapter is data driven, customer value driven and is the trusted advisor to its stakeholders. Especially looking at the numerous requirements coming our way, this chapter plays a crucial role and is at the heart of ING Finance.
Roles and responsibilities
50% of your time you will Define/maintain accounting rules and product related ledger processes. For the other 50% of your working week, you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and motivating IT experts in your chapter, which will consist of around12 software engineers on average.

- Proven track record and proficiency in software development (8 + years): Oracle PL/SQL,SDLC, Accounting knowledge.
- Experience and thorough understanding of (test) automation, continuous delivery, deployment tools and pipelines. We work with Azure DevOps.
- An itch and self-motivation for solving technical and functional challenges.
- Great analytical skills and conceptual / architectural understanding, ability to quickly understand new technical concepts that are outside of your comfort zone.
- Strong interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology in general.
- We expect the ability to transfer knowledge back to the ING Bank by holding presentations, workshops, writing documentation and most important: setting new standards for the ways we do tech.
- Strong social and communication skills along with stakeholder management.
- Experience with working in multidisciplinary teams and iterative way of working is a pre.
- Fluent English speaking and writing
