ING is looking for a Proficient Product Owner for NRC next squad with IT background

ING is looking for an energetic Product Owner with a passion for IT and with a drive to enable engineers to speed up their software delivery. You will be working in one of the squads in the IT Area “Collections NL & Generics” in the Payments Tribe. The squad is a DevOps team responsible for the NRC (Nieuwe Rekening Courant) application. You enjoy working together in a multidisciplinary team and Customer perspective is your primary drive to work in a squad.

Scrum, Agile and Continuous Integration Delivery are very important within our Area.

Job description

NRC is an application for the business clients and is used by back office users in ING.

In the NRC system agreements (conditions) for current accounts and interest set-off (ISO) and balance set-off (BSO) structures of current accounts (i.e. rente- en fiatstelsels) are registered.

Besides these, there are also agreements for credit commission, overdraft fees and commitment fees and fees for the account structures. NRC is a Sox critical application, this means extra risk controls.

NRC is a (Cobol/PL1) application which has recently been migrated from mainframe to the current Microfocus Wintel Platform in IPC (ING Private Cloud). We are now in a process to migrate the features of NRC to a target platform.

The prioritization of new functionalities is one of your activities, next to communication with other squads and management in and outside the IT Area.

Besides that, we need an Product Owner who is willing to gain knowledge of the business functionality of the NRC application.

You work closely with other teams and take initiative in coordinating dependencies with others. Also you feel responsible for the quality and availability of our applications.

Work environment

This is an environment where the main business payment is processing and together with your colleagues you will help simplify this IT landscape. ING DevOps squads are responsible for the development, delivery, operation and maintenance of applications, associated components and interfaces. A DevOps squad consists of Product Owner and DevOps Engineers. Collectively, the DevOps team has full responsibility for the Development, Quality Assurance and Operations of their systems.

We operate according to the Scrum Agile development process and strongly believe in the DevOps approach to deliver successful IT solutions. The ING application world is complex and has many dependencies. We try to simplify this in a fast pace so that current and future changes in our applications can be implemented quickly and efficiently.

What are you going to do?
As a Product Owner you will be the representative of the squad, and you will maintain a close relationship with the IT Area Lead, business SPOC’s, IT engineers, architects, peers, users, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, you will develop, maintain and support the roadmap for NRC and the related applications. You manage realization of all activities in the backlog, lead the refinement, planning and development of all new features.

The following components are important:
• In the Tribe Structure you are part of an ambitious and driven squad with an Agile approach. You work together with colleagues from other areas of expertise and you take the initiative with regard to broadening knowledge (inside and outside your expertise) that is relevant within the Tribe in which you work.

• You are familiar with IT risk processes and experienced in implementing and monitoring this.

• You take on tasks/activities that contribute to the mission wherever possible, even when it is not entirely within your area of ​​expertise.
• You have a current vision on IT and you have a broad IT expertise, also willing to engineer yourself.
• You ensure an efficient and effective handling of incident -, configuration -, change management within your team.
• You contribute to the development of your squad by actively giving and receiving feedback.

• You are able to get all (typical) items from the backlog from "to do" to "done".
• Create requirements in the forms of Themes, Epics and Stories and facilitate backlog refinement sessions

Who are you?
You are the Product Owner with a strong IT background who thinks it is challenging to manage and develop important business Payment applications.

Knowledge about/experience with business payment processes is an absolute plus.

• You have experience working in an Agile organization

• 3+ years of experience as a product owner/technical lead or relevant professional experience in an agile environment.

• You have a good command of the Dutch and English language, spoken and written.
