We are looking for you for the position of Legal Officer in the Tribe Legal of ING Netherlands (DBNL)!

This is what you are going to do

The legal department of ING Netherlands (Tribe Legal) is a legal department that uses the agile method. The Tribe Legal works with Squads and Chapters. The Squads act as operational teams in which you as a team member work on a daily basis and thus contribute to the realization of the goals of the Squad. The Chapters are collaborative teams across the Squads. The Chapter members share knowledge and work together to develop skills. Chapter members switch squads from time to time.

As a Legal Officer you will work in the Client Chapter of the Tribe Legal of ING Netherlands and you will start in the Squad Business Clients.

Chapter Customer represents a wide range of legal knowledge areas and is diverse in composition in terms of age and work experience. Our diversity is a circumstance that we use to make each other better. We learn from each other and are therefore teacher and student at the same time. Chapter Customer focuses on legal issues concerning the bank’s relationship with its customers, such as privacy, corporate lending, personal and family law, litigation and enforcement as well as dispute resolution.

Squad Business Clients supports and advises in the field of banking services offered to business clients. The activities relate to products and processes related to credit, payments and (third-party) attachments. The activities of the Squad Business Clients therefore also encompass several areas of law, such as property law (both contract law and property law), insolvency law and laws concerning enforcement of court judgments. In addition, the relevance of privacy law and financial law – Including regulations in the field of combating terrorist financing and the prevention of money laundering, but also rules of conduct for financing self-employed persons and small businesses – for the activities of the Business Clients Squad increases.

As a lawyer participating in the Squad Business Clients from the Chapter Customer, you advise various ING-departments (Tribes) that serve ING business clients (including Business Lending, Business Banking Sales and Daily Banking & Digital First) on, for example, financing questions (such as financing constructions, securities and contract documentation) complaints and processes. You are also involved in product reviews and proactively advise the relevant stakeholders in the field of new legislation and regulations. You also support the other lawyers of the Tribe Legal in advising and of course you keep up with relevant legal developments and innovations (internally and externally).

You continue to develop yourself within your own expertise and you strive to be seen as an expert in the legal areas in which you are active as soon as possible, both internally and externally.

The Tribe Legal ING Netherlands is a department with many different legal areas of focus. Product specific areas of focus are Payments, Savings, Mortgages, Investing as well as Private and Business Loans. Other areas of focus in the department include: Privacy, Digitization and Innovation, Supervision Legislation, the laws of enforcement and execution, Personal and Family Law, FEC/CDD and Fraud Prevention.

Who are you?

Do you hold a Master’s Degree in Law and do you have at least 5 years of work experience? Do you have knowledge of civil law and financial law and do you have a specific affinity with regulations in the field of privacy and data protection? Are you pragmatic, flexible, analytical, a team player and good at the concrete and practical application of legal requirements and do you want to get to know ING Netherlands (even) better in all its facets? This position will be graded in scale 10/11 depending on your experience.

Working hours: 36 hours a week, you can start immediately.

Good to know

You must be fluent in Dutch since most of the communication with colleagues and clients will be in Dutch.

This position is open to employees with an employment contract for a definite or indefinite period. Under the provisions of the ING Social Plan, employees with preventive mobile status and employees who are redundant have priority over other candidates.
