
DevOps Engineer Platform team
The team
You will be part of a Platform Team whose vision is to fight against manual toil. The goal of the team is to do the heavy lifting with new and existing tech in order to deliver easy to implement solutions so squads can hop on and quickly benefit.
You will work in a challenging environment of the IT organization of the Tribe Omni Channel. We operate according to a Scrum Agile development process and strongly believe in the DevOps approach to delivering IT solutions. The focus is on high-quality mission-critical software delivered in time using iterative development with regular milestone demos to the business, so that at the end there are no surprises about what we build.

As a DevOps Engineer in the Security, Reliability and Content area you look after the security, reliability of an Internet-facing commercial banking system, InsideBusiness. The impact of what you are responsible for is huge. The field evolves fast and staying up-to-date and exercising technical leadership to help the organization stay at the forefront is of paramount importance. You will focus on strengthening the monitoring and automated delivery of our software on our ING Private Cloud/ING Container Hosting Platform.

Some of the main responsibilities are listed below:

Monitoring and supporting the production environment and several other environments in the Tribe Omni Channel

Capacity management of file systems and databases used
-
Owning backup/restore and disaster recovery processes

Ability to analyse performance and make necessary performance tuning suggestions

Streamlining our development process from code check-ins all the way to deployment into production in collaboration with Dev colleagues

Evolve our approach for monitoring and alerting towards preventive monitoring

Automate everything which is possible

Create reusable modules whenever possible. For example: Create templates in Azure DevOps or Ansible which can be shared with other squads

Desired skills & experience:

Proven track record in this role, preferably in an international environment

Excellent knowledge (at least 4 year of working experience) of OS fundamentals with the ability to apply it in the context of modern operating systems, e.g. RHEL and Oracle

Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery using modern tools such as Azure and Ansible

You will be working with ELK stack and Prometheus suite, of which knowledge is a strong nice-to-have, but the willingness and ability to master these new technologies a must-have

Good knowledge of enterprise level networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, SFTP, Proxy, Firewalls)

Performance/Capacity/Availability Monitoring, knowledge of well-known tools in this area is a big nice-to-have

Able to work under pressure and on flexible working hours, willing to be on stand-by outside of office hours

Good knowledge of container platforms like Openshift/Kubernetes

You have sound knowledge of sql/no-sql databases and ideally have looked after the operation of a critical production installation of Oracle including its performance tuning as well as backup/restore scripts and processes

Basic knowledge of Scrum/Kanban

Great English communication skills, verbal as well as written
