Objective of function

As a part of the COO Trade Expertise Team, you will be responsible for ensuring that ING’s key processes deliver competitive advantage and if not, that the right fixes are implemented in a consistent way across functions and locations. You will work closely with CLT teams, Hub teams, process experts, relevant delivery tribes and process participants across the value chain. Starting point for all initiatives are the needs and expectations of our clients.

  • Develops process vision, objectives and KPIs.
  • Designs, monitors and improves global E2E processes according to customer, business (P/L) and legal requirements including the Service & Contracting Framework and product control frameworks.
  • Ensures correctness of ICS portal.
  • Monitors that consistent and comprehensive dashboards are in place to measure, benchmark and analyze process performance.
  • Prioritizes and decides on improvement initiatives in alignment with process participants; drives process improvements.
  • Involves appropriate stakeholders in process performance reviews, improvement decisions, planning and implementation of process improvements.
  • Reviews process performance and intervenes accordingly.
  • Identifies performance gaps and launches remedial initiatives
  • Where appropriate, creates and manages community of subject matter experts, and local process leads in the specific process domain united by the same purpose and way of working.

The main duties/responsibilities but are not limited to are the following:

  • Leads process review boards (incl. Hub Services) and participates/aligns in squads (tribe), also via subject matter experts and local process leaders.
  • Steers fact based on the run and drives change in the E2E value chain (e.g. escalations).
  • Ad hoc testing of trade finance system applications as per group requirements at any given time.
  • Pro-actively monitors continuous improvements in data and processes and implements changes
  • Works closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of trade finance inquiries and trade finance transactions from the business and external stakeholders
  • To be able to work and be exposed to a complex, dynamic and international financial environment with a close relation to the day-to-day dealing room business.

Main Tasks / Important Responsibilities and Results

Process Management

Identify improvement areas and develop practical improvement solutions for existing processes/procedures/work instructions, technology and organization.

  • Identifies areas with room for improvement. Develops practical proposals for improvement of standard and non-standard processes, procedures, work instructions and technology.
  • Provide input to projects based on own expertise (content/process driven) and monitor the impact of the project on the operational execution.

Provides input for projects based on own experience and best practices.

  • Implement process/technology/organization improvements and ensure proper understanding by involved parties.

Implements improvements in the area of standard processes and technology.

Service Delivery

Monitor Process performance and identify cause/effect relationships .

  • Monitors TFS processes in quality and quantity and tracks the performance which is then shared with Circle leads

Design and ensure quality checks are implemented. Understand service level agreements and ensure service delivery is compliant with the agreed/developed SLA’s.

  • Understands service level agreements and acts on them.

Knowledge management

Ensure knowledge of banking products and operational processes.

  • Develops awareness of processes that precede and follow assigned area of specialization.
  • Ensure knowledge of banking products and operational processes is captured and documented in work instructions and procedures.

Ensures that knowledge of banking products and operational processes is recognized and documented in work instructions and procedures. Instructs and supports others in this area.


Education / level and field of study – HBO/ Bachelor’s Degree of any relevant course

• Excel Macros Knowledge is an advantage and SWIFT payment exposure
