Your role

Coaching your team to higher performance, and bridging business and compliance at ECB level. That’s your challenge as Team Lead of the Credit Risk Control Unit. Take the lead in risk management excellence at a bank where people take centre stage!

At de Volksbank, our mortgage portfolio is subject to the Advanced Internal Ratings-Based (AIRB) approach. You’ll be responsible for regulatory compliance of our mortgage credit risk model, as well as the performance of the model and the quality of the data. This involves performance testing and data quality monitoring.

You’ll be working closely with multiple stakeholders, the business, the ECB, auditors, Finance and the Risk & Compliance Hub and discussion with the Executive Committee is to be taken care of. Our AIRB approach means that changes in the model, e.g. as a result of the ever changing regulations and increasingly advanced data sets, are closely scrutinised. This is why you’ll regularly confer with the ECB, facilitate on-site inspections and attend Joint Supervisory Team meetings.

As Team Lead you’ll be coaching your team, inspiring them and helping them develop their skills and careers, while raising the team’s performance as a whole. You’ll also be responsible for your team’s capacity in terms of quality and staff numbers. As we only started working agile in March this year, this is another area in which you will coach your team. And you’ll be responsible for your team’s backlog management. In addition, the Credit Risk Control Unit being part of the Risk Expertise Centre, you’ll be a member of the Expertise Centre’s leadership team, helping us put risk management on a higher plane.

Your home base

Your colleagues of the nine-strong Credit Risk Control Unit are highly-educated experts in the fields of AIRB and IFRS 9, model performance testing, data and systems. You’ll be moulding this team, elevating them from monitoring and reviewing to challenging the business and other stakeholders. Your competences

You thrive on coaching teams and helping your colleagues develop to their full potential. Because together you achieve results that matter. You embrace agile working and instil confidence in your team, boosting their learning process. Working at the interface between the business and regulators, you stand firm and leverage your communication skills to convince stakeholders, whose interests may differ, of your approach.

You also have:

· A Master’s Degree or PhD in econometrics, mathematics, physics or similar.

· In-depth regulatory knowledge related to AIRB and IFRS 9 modelling.

· Extensive work experience in the field of risk management in the financial sector.

· The ability to develop and maintain a comprehensive view of all that’s relevant to the IRB approach to risk management.

· An excellent command of English. Some command of Dutch would help you communicate with your colleagues.
