The opportunity

The Benelux head of talent drives the implementation and execution of talent management, employer branding and talent acquisition activities that are strategically linked to ING Benelux’s mission and strategy and aimed to assess, develop and manage the organization’s talent pool. The role is accountable for assessment of succession pipeline strength, development of key talent segments and the evaluation of the effectiveness of the organization's talent strategies. The role is aligned to our global CoE Talent & Learning and leads a team of approx. 5-7 experts.

  • Talent development execution in ING Benelux

  • Employer branding for ING Benelux

  • Succession planning for ING Benelux

  • Co-develop future-proof tools and processes as part of a global CoE community

The role drives the following outcomes:

  • Making our organisation fit for purpose: ensuring that we have the right people capabilities and the tools and strategies to support the development of these capabilities

  • Empowering our leaders: we have developed an approach to developing leaders that covers approx. 5000 managers and leaders across ING

  • Empowering our workforce: we are building the right tools for our employees and leaders to be able to succeed in their current jobs, prepare for next steps within ING and even beyond

  • Diverse and inclusive workforce: we are building the tools to ensure that our people come to work as themselves, contribute, innovate, progress

On managing and developing talent:

  • Participates in the design, development, implementation and execution of talent management programs and initiatives that identify and address talent risks and opportunities, drive desired (leadership) behavior, increase employee engagement and mobility and accelerate performance to deliver business results.

  • Partners closely with HR Business Partners and the business for talent management approaches, processes and technology, acting as a trusted and credible advisor on talent development.

  • Delivers the talent identification and succession planning process for senior and critical positions and supports succession development via individual development plans, monitoring succession plans, and maintaining talent profiles.

  • Works closely with the D&I team to design and embed inclusive practices on talent acquisition, identification, and management globally. Champions diversity and inclusion in all talent processes and drives the development of a diverse talent pipeline internally and externally.

  • Implements all global talent processes and prepares engaging leadership-level insights and analysis to support smart talent decisions.

  • Assists in measuring and assessing the impact of all talent management processes; provides talent analytics, including diversity metrics on our key talent population.

  • Contributes Benelux perspective to shape the development of global talent approaches.

On talent acquisition:

  • Designs and implements a proactive sourcing approach to build talent pools, particularly for hard-to-attract talent segments

  • Builds candidate-centered talent acquisition processes that engage potential talent and enhance ING’s reputation in the market

  • Ensures fair, objective and inclusive hiring practices are consistently practiced, including building capability in hiring managers

  • Develops Benelux-tailored employer branding campaigns aligned with global messaging; activates ING’s employer branding to achieve a top 1 or 2 position in financial rankings for all three countries

  • Measures and reports performance of all talent acquisition activities against agreed KPI's and makes recommendations in line with business priorities

How to succeed

The things we will look for in the ideal candidate:

  • Previous work experience is minimum of 10 years, of which minimum of 3 years in a blend of Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Talent Development roles

  • Highly business- and results-focused

  • Has worked previously in an international matrix organisation

  • Process-minded & driven: able to understand and oversee a process from beginning to end in a complex matrix organization

  • Highly detail-oriented, analytic, energetic and self-motivated individual

  • Comfortable working in an environment in which businesses processes, tools, deadlines etc are continually evolving

  • Experienced in change management, both with senior management stakeholders as well as line managers and employees

  • Resourceful in overcoming roadblocks that hinder processes

  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Collaborative and able to work effectively with others inside and outside of own team

  • University degree preferred
